More of a review to follow after i sober up :P

I was quite ill the morning before Ferry, and I went anyway. An opportunity like this night doesn't come along often, and it lived up to my dreams.. eer.. maybe they were fever induced hallucinations.. Either way, excellent night.
I loved the transition from old into the new.. Dark and dirty the new stuff is.. Maybe Ferry will spin with Sander some day.. Ooh to dream!
Off to bed, work in 5 hours..
Happy Birthday Lisa!
-Pete

was a good time. I wish ferry played a bit more trance and a bit less electro, but i guess this was expected as it was a promo party for L.E.F. Great seeing all the TA's again.
Sucky thing is I had to get up at 7am and i got back home at 2:30. But hey, anything for Ferry!

im sooo tireddd!!!~

GREAT energy during Ferry's set, def TOO short!
and didn't want to ask/bother them with pictures and idle conversation, silly me bleh

So, Del...I don't know how to ever repay you...the best inadvertent birthday present I've ever gotten. I woke up in the middle of the night with a giant grin on my face thinking about how awesome the night was, and I went back to bed...dreaming of it!
So here's the story. I woke up at 6:30am on Tuesday, got ready, and picked up the rental car just after 8am. I drove to Hamilton, picked up Laura and we started off on our long drive to New York. After an adventureus and exciting drive (beautiful during the day - as we usually drive through the night), we finally arrive in NYC at Fran's apartment.
We chilled out for a little while, had some dinner, got ready...and headed over to Cielo. Not 5 minutes after we get in there, fotoaddict (a NYC TA) tells me that Ferry is over by the booth just hanging out. I run over there and wait my turn to talk to him, and then strike up a convo with him. He remembered who I am (coming to see in and having VIP in March). We talked for a good 15 minutes about Holland, trance, his music, Canada, playing back to back in Armin...all kinds of stuff. And to think, I was so nervous I wanted to bring a sheet of paper with what I wanted to say to him.
After taking my turn to chat I chilled out for a bit until he came on the decks. Met up with a bunch of NYTAs I met in March and was introduced to a few new ones. Ferry got on the decks around 11:30 and as he told me, he was going to be spinning some new, different material that I wouldn't be used to. As it is Ferry...I loved it none the less! He played quite a mixture of stuff. Lots of electro, some trance and even had a lot of a housey sound. I was right up by the DJ booth for a lot of the night, snapping shots, but these 3 people right at the front got super annoying b/c they just stood there with their hands up the entire time jumping around, so no one could get any front shots without their hands in the way.
I didn't mind though, I went from the front to the side to the back - I'm not singing right now no - all over the place you had a good view. There were maybe 200 people in their max. Including SASHA! Talked to him for a bit and also took a pic or two.
After Ferry got off the decks at 2ish, he was hanging out with everyone. I chit chatted with him a few more times, got a bunch more pics. At one point everyone was taking pictures of him and I and he said, and I quote, "Look, you're so hot...everyone wants to take pictures of you!" I almost died.
We all went on the patio for a little while, and just before they were about to close I asked him for one more picture - as I drove 11 hours for this. So I took it, and I gave him a kiss on the cheek. Laura was like "Give him a kiss on the lips!" So I went back over and asked him for a "Peck on the lips" and he was like "What's a peck on the lips mean?" Haha, we joked around for a bit, but then took a video of me giving him a kiss on the lips - we didn't want any too incriminating photos And sure enough, right after...HIS WIFE CALLED! Haha How ironic. He said she can smell it from across the world!
Anyway, sorry for the long review - I have more to say, but I'll stop here. Lots of pics to come from lots of people. I have to edit them first!!
Great fucking night. Seriously Del, I dunno how to repay you! Thank you so much for this oppurtunity. It made for the best birthday ever (and I still have a week of celebrations to go).
Thanks to Laura for driving with me and Fran for letting us crash here. I love you guys.
P.S. Review of Cielo itself - beautiful club. I like how intimate it is. The lights in the walls were pretty sweet that went along with the music. Not as tacky as it sounds. And IMO best sound system I've ever heard. So crisp and clean. It didn't hurt my ears at all, and I didn't even have my ear plugs in. I hope I got some good pics of the club.
had lotsa fun, it was nice seein the TAs i know and meeting a few i hadnt met yet
...open bar was sweet, i abandoned the sapporos after one and stuck with margaritas lol
enjoyed ferry's set, although most of his new tracks seemed more suited for big party crowds (like L.E.F)..loved hearing Galaxia for the first time on a big sound system
as well as some other crowd pleasers..
all in all a fun night, and def the cheapest night ive ever spent in the city, which is always good

Pure dedication, which is awesome.
Arrived at Cielo w/ GhB around 11pm bracing ourselves for a long line outside, but luckily there wasn't any. Francis said David Joseph was spinning at the time and he was throwing down some easy housey beats, but no one was on the dancefloor. I don't think the crowd was really in the mood for that. It was odd b/c there was a mob in front of the DJ booth, a few people scattered around the room, and then an empty dancefloor which is were the best sound is.
Nice seeing the TA contingent as we were the majority of people dancing when Ferry came on. He started off w/ electro, which I love for having more attitude. The sound system definitely does justice to those basslines. Then he threw in some trance, which really got the crowd going. Unfortunately, when he played harder, the sound system kind of bucked. It felt like my eardrums were being punched with the higher pitches. It was also really strange seeing glowsticks and photons there. No offense Jay, but it's not really the type of venue for that. On the other hand so few people were actually on the dancefloor, it was a nice way to fill up space.
It was cool Ferry and Sasha were open to talking to people. I waved to Sasha outside not wanting to harass him, and he just smiled and waved back. I kind of felt bad b/c Tuesdays are supposed to be industry night when DJs can just relax, but both of them were being mobbed especially in the courtyard.
Overall it was a fun night, but I expected more from Ferry's set. He was only on for 2 hours which is the shortest I've seen him, and he didn't really get to develop the set. Had he spun another hour, maybe it would've been better.
Peter Bailey closed, and he hit a bump transitioning in, but afterwards spun some nice darker beats. The place cleared out fast though, and the energy just kind of died. I'm sure the last 20 or so people would've stayed until 4am if he kept going, but I guess that wasn't enough incentive for them to stay open. I only took a few pics since it was already like the paparazzi in there. Will post later.
All in all, it was a great night. Nice to see so many TA's there. Now I'm ready for the weekend
My friend told me because there wasnt as much industry ppl, they started letting in anybody who showed up.

| Originally posted by phoenixBEBE wow really? hmm i GUESS so...iono, as far as we were concerned, most TAs did have invites or were on lists (+1). i was in at 9:50pm so I wouldn't know about that. I guess whoever decided to chance it and go down to Cielo got lucky then |
Ferry always rocks

Here is my review, got there at about 10:10 arrived with Jay and Jon (eternal) no line, found parking right on the corner. Met up with tons of TA's the opening DJ was ok but nothing special.
Most of us just ended up hanging out in the courtyard smoking cigs and drinking till Ferry came on, saw the usual bunch of TA's and met some new ones as well (nice meeting all of u
). The vibe was very nice and cozy, everyone was really friendly. Most of us came inside soon as Ferry started, he played Fire of course and Galaxia, cant remember much else cuz the Sapporo's were HUGE and they were kicking my ass. The bartender was nice and was hooking em up 2 at a time towards the end of the night
Sound system was great, I felt the bass in my chest because I was on the dancefloor for most of the time, but no ringing in the ears and it sounded very crisp. The dancefloor was small but not many people were dancing.
Regarding the glowstick comment that was made earlier....Jay didnt start that actually, there were others there that just pulled them out (didnt know them dont think they were ta's) and we were all sharing them. I dont see the problem with it, everyone was just trying to have a good time and thats what its all about anyway.
I got pics with Ferry and Sasha but not on my camera so I hope that Mer and Lyss post them up for me
We got some nice group TA shots as well
(I REALLY need to get a new camera.)I am very glad that I had the opportunity to go to this event and I really enjoyed myself. I left a little after 1 and got home around 2ish. I said I wasnt gonna drink to much but I LIED
So yea I ended up calling in to work ![]()
Got there around 10pm with Jenn (JKada) who got us the invites...There was a small line but we got inside in about 5 minutes which was nice.
Actually it was my first time at Cielo, the setup was really cool...the decor, lighting, and especially the sound. There were probably about 150-200 people in total inside the club all night which never made it seem "full". Ferry played what i figured he would play...mostly his own album's tracks. I did appreciate how he mixed right into his stuff from the opener's last track, not many headliners do that anymore.
Great meeting barosoap, brian, hailee, and some others for the first time. I'm moving back to NY end of July so I will surely be seein more of you out.
The Sapporo rocked my ass...those things are deadly.
Left around 2am cuz had to drive back to philly...drive sucked ass comin home but the ngiht was definitely worth it. Had a blast!

HAHAHAHA just playin! Woooo that was a fucking awesome night, I had so much fun! I think the TA's pretty much own3d that place last night. Ferry threw down some hot shit. I must say that man is one of the coolest people I've ever met. I dunno how has the patience to talk to every person there camera in his face all night long, the poor man looked like he was getting mugged by us all night hahah. He's so sincere when you talk to him too. That was just such a sweet party. I talked to Sasha outside and got a pic with him. I think he was tanked haha, but who wasn't! Great to see everybody, pics coming later I'm gonna go take a nap it's been a long day
oh btw, anyone notice how GOOD it smelled in there? i guess it was all the candles lol

| Originally posted by barosoap There didn't seem to be many industry people, and most of them left early. There were some Pacha people, but that's all I got wind of. They could've sold 100 tickets to this event, and it still would've been comfortable. |
It was a good night. Very very short but good. Ferry played from 11.30 to 1.30 and then Peter Bailey was behind the decks for an hour or so.... thrown a great tune "Raj" in the end. Love it.
Nice seeing everybody - Brian, Jay, Mike, Alyssa, Kelly
, Krysta and others and meeting new people from Toronto.
