What's everyone use in OSX?
I'm curious. Since I don't have a Pro Tools HD setup (nor do I particularly want one), what's everyone using for work in OSX?
The reason I ask is that I've been looking for some new software to work with, similar to like P5 for Windows. Basically, I want VST and DXi support, but in a streamlined interface similar to what Live or P5 uses. Also, able to work under MIDI with VSTs and able to be a multitrack recorder/sequencer from exernal sources. (Does Live support VST plugins?) I've been able to port my copy of Reason over from Windows, which is nice, but it's nowhere near the "fix-all" solution to everything.
Whats everyone here use, or suggest (if you haven't switched over yet!)?
And before I forget, does anybody know where to download the update for Reason for the Intel Macs?
no idea but when i get my new macbook (which could be a whiiiile)...im gonna use bootcamp for cubase in a win XP environment
well, i don't have a mac yet but when i finally do get one, my plans are to run Reason 3.0 along with Cubase (SE or SE3) so that i can use reason as a slave and have cubase use VST's and maybe some hardware synths and such.

Ableton Live
Live has VST/DXI support? Ah, good shit, good shit. I'd actually been meaning to buy Live for the longest time now.

DX(i) is Windows only.
Mac Format plugs are:-
AU (Audio Unit) this is Apple only, and built into the OS
VST(i) Same idea as PC although you need Mac specific versions
RTAS RealTime Audio Suite This is the Native Pro Tools Format
TDM Time Division Multiplexing This is the DSP Pro Tools Format
Not sure what Ableton supports, but their site should help..
So far Ableton has been very stable on my Macbook (intel, obv.).
Oh and the reason update for intel is available on the Propellerhead site, it's 3.0.5 I believe. You of course have to be a registered user.

I like live because it's so easy to throw things around and try different things with your sounds...
