England - Ecuador (June 25th 2006) (Round of 16) [B1 - A2]

England vs. Ecuador in Stuttgart.

Hopefully Ecuador can make it through, but I doubt it..

Too bad I'm not at home to see it, could be a pretty close game.

Posted by noikeee on Jun-24-2006 21:50:

Ecuador should perform a bit better than what they did against Germany, but the favouritism is clearly on England's side and i think they will win. 1-0 for the english.

As for who to cheer for.. ehhhh, i've got no preferences. Ecuador would be better for Portugal to face in the quarters, but in case Holland goes through it'd be better to have England as it'd be a kickass game. I just want good football tomorrow then.

England will play a massively better game than we've seen of them yet. I think Rooney might bust it open but if there are no goals by the half, then it could be typical english desperation football and they might eek out a 1-0 win. I have a feeling it'll be 2-0, maybe 2-1. I"d like to see an England-Portugal rematch though...time to avenge that farcical game.

im going for ecuador on this one.... plus england has played rly shit latetly...

i guess alot of teams have too and so has ecuador :s

Posted by zoric on Jun-24-2006 21:53:

Count on a much better game from Ecuador tomorrow, because they had 5 starting players on the bench, and they didn't get the chance to play in the Germany game.

I hope Carlos Tenorio scores one goal and takes Ecuador through to the next round, which would make them even more historical.

England 2-0... won't be close, England's physical game is too much for Ecuador.

Posted by LittleGoku on Jun-25-2006 03:48:

if there will be any more upsets in this tournament, this is the one im hoping for.

Go ecuador!

2-1

Posted by Eddie N MIAMI on Jun-25-2006 03:54:

upset would be nice, but I like seeing England play so I kinda want them to move on

bah first time in a while i gotta work on a weekend,Ima be at work during this game

I really want England to win and I also see them barely squeeking out a 1-0 win. They really haven't looked very good in the 2 games I've seen. They look like they're sleepwalking. I think they desperately need Rooney fit or they're gonna have trouble scoring. I think he's rounding into form (at least I hope so).

this, of course, depends on the referee. It could very well be another edition of "World Cup basketball on grass"

i want ecuador to knock the stuffing out of england.

i think this gonna be a tough game for ecuador, but i think an upset is entirely possible here.

kinda like how the brits knocked the stuffing out of argentina in the falklands eh? You anti english are so vocal, I can't wait for England to finally win something so I can smother a Cross of St George in your face.

Posted by sr126 on Jun-25-2006 08:05:

it's just a futbol thing. also, i have made it clear on several occasions that i want the europeans to go home empty handed, last time i checked, england was a part of europe, maybe not a part of the european union, but still part of the continent. therefore, i will root for anybody but the brits. i have nothing against the english, or europeans on a personal level. i just don't want them taking the cup. that is all. it's just a WC/football thing, it's not a huge chip on my shoulder that i carry around in everyday life. i hope that sooner or later you will understand this.

also, no one mentioned anyhting about the falklands, or how regan/united states was instrumental in helping england win that one. don't forget that i am amercian, and we kicked the brits out of america. not only that, when argentina was colony of spain, argentina also kicked the brits of argentina w/out help from the spanish. so leave that cross thing of a ma jigger thingy alone, we're talking about football here.

also, you are going to be waiting a long time before you get the use that cross thingy.... some have been waiting almost 50yrs for england win the WC... then again, you conviently said you can't wait for the brits to win "something", so it looks like you'll be content w/much less. but in terms of winning the world cup? hell, give it to your great grand children, maybe they can use it for something.

Even though our performance so far has been far from stellar we should still be able to piss all over those mediocre Ecuadorians..

Come on!! Cole to put two in.

great, very relevant point. bring ww2 into the topic if you get to face Germany.

Posted by Sinus on Jun-25-2006 15:02:

Here we go! Come on England!

Posted by noikeee on Jun-25-2006 15:49:

Very poor first half, both teams lacking ideas. I think a set piece will decide this one.

Posted by zoric on Jun-25-2006 15:50:

England is facing big problems right now, Ecuador is playing quite ok. Both teams needs to improve, much..
