no no that's not what i meant. Mostly sundays there is not public transportation, but this weekend since it's the waterfront they might have kept it running.

The Mississauga waterfront festival is next week. The Oakville one is this week and shouldn't affect us.

lol what? in oakville, the public transportation system stops on sundays, as in there IS NO PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION ON SUNDAYS.

Posted by Orko on Jun-25-2006 15:17:

In Mississauga smaller routes do not run.

THose that do are usually once an hour or once every 40min.

Whoa whoa. TOTA newbie lesson #1: We do not mention Tisto here, unless you are looking for a flamewar or the onslaught of "funny" Tiesto photochops. If you absolutely MUST reference Tiesto, use "he-who-shall-not-be-named", it's vague, everyone gets who you're talking about, and no one gets upset.

Thats because life stops on Sundays in Canada. Dont you know? You should always stay home unless you are out producing something so that you can pay taxes!

Missisauga is what, the 5th largest city in canada and it doesnt have a sunday bus schedule? And Oakville too?

From what i understood its a severely reduced schedule and oakville has no schedule...

Which is why i own a car. We make sure people can get to their 9 to 5 work and back, but try having a life outside of that while relying on public transport.

Have you been on a bus in Mississauga on a Sunday?

There is a reason service is scaled back on Sundays,

1) the population density is too low
2) nothing is within walking distance so people got used to driving cars

Mississauga is built on consumption. Shopping, eating, movies. The social gathering spots around the city are dictated by one of those three activities. It would be in the best interest of the city to have routes accessing these areas on the weekends so people can go out and keep the economy going. They do not, because there just are not enough people willing to ride the bus.

Yes, its a "if you build they will come" type argument, but not in Mississauga. Most people want nothing to do with the bus. Its a way of thinking which does not depend on scheduling imo.

I honestly don't understand how people can rely on transit to get around. I use to have to do that when I didn't have my liscense and it blows!

*The only time public transportation is good is when you gotta get home after a night of heaving drinking. Thank goodness for the TTC Blue line!

I agree.. i know why we have this problem. Sadly this is why i dont think we will ever solve it. Unless a politician ever gets the balls to allow for a denser population

first off, mississauga is a suburb...mississauga for a suburb has a pretty damn good transit. TTC is a metropolitan city. its EXPECTED to have a frequent service on all routes.

secondly. mississauga was designed based on driving. thats why we have 3+ lanes on over 3/4 of the streets. in any suburb, its understood u should be driving. opn weekends, the roads are packed at all times because majority of the population works downtown and commutes via transit as compared to driving for obvious reasons and they drive on the weekends. this is the reason why the bus schedule is reduced on sundays.

now jayx1 stfu already

PS. this is LKD
