Tour of France 2006

so the tour of france starts soon .....

i don't know if some of you guys watch it sometimes !

GO ROBBIE !

Posted by K.I.K.E. on Jun-25-2006 17:02:

I hope Paquito Mancebo makes the podium.

Valverde, a top-5 will be fine, and a pair of stages.

Basso for the win.

Im going again this year!

FORZA IVAN!

although I love Ulrich but I think he is too old now to win it

there are not enough needle on Earth for them.

I was thinking about starting a thread for the TDF, but you beat me to it

I'll be trying to follow it

Either Leipheimer or Landis will make it 8 straight American wins in a row

this year im lucky no need to drive for hours the tour is going through bordeaux !

Posted by Trance Nutter on Jun-26-2006 15:04:

The Australians never have any chance on the general classification, so I'll be going for O'Grady or Robbie McKewin for the green jersey.

I'm not sure if SouthAustralia.com is entered, I really don't think they are as I think they only do the more minor races. But if they're there I'll be supporting them too.

I've spent quite a few nights staying up watching the Tour each year.

I love the TDF, even more so when it's dominated by an American. (The irony of that always made me smile). It'll be weird not having Lance there. I've been following since the Greg Lemond days, I think it's the most grueling sport in the world. Someday I hope to catch it in person. That's cool that you're gonna see it this year Ben.

I haven't followed the newest American riders yet but I will look before the race starts.

Stage 14 : Montelimar to Gap

I think this year is great. I was a huge Lance Armstrong fan not only for him being the best cyclist ever but also for his work for cancer. Also everyone used to support him I really dont think anyone disliked him something never seen in sport.

Also we could see a Kazakstani win....and his name is not Borat...shame

Banned, as well as Comunitat Valenciana, for being involved in the doping affair 'Operacin Puerto'.

EDIT: Allowed to be in the TdF presentation, waiting for TAS decision about the team.

Personally, I don't think there are enough balls to ban such politically strong team (Kazakhstan government sponsors Astan), with Vinokourov as the main rider. They will be in Le Tour, I think.

Ullrich and Sevilla, temporarily banned from T-Mobile (for their doping scandal implication), won't ride Le Tour.

2 more podium contenders out.

I never expected that Mancebo would be into that shit.

So le Tour is wide open now: Vinokourov, Valverde, Evans, Leipheimer, Mayo and some outsiders.

blimney this is taking the piss. Bet Armstrong wishes he was still there with most of the competition gone.

Really looking forward to this years tour, should be a good'un. Nice to see two Brits in there too, could be a British one-two at the prologue

Posted by EarnYourKeep on Jun-30-2006 13:40:

i dont think it'll be as exciting with the likes of lance, basso, and ullrich out. i think to some extent the doping laws should be ignored, especially in armstrongs case, not that I'm promoting HGH or any other foreign substance. I wonder why they didn't test for levels of radiation from armstrong's chemo therapy, be it that they are calling out positive enhancing substances, what about those that have a negative effect on the body? They don't make court cases over injuries or testicular cancer saying this athlete should have an advantage cuz he has testicular cancer, but they make a huge deal over a positive enhancing substance.

I just think in some ways this world is twisted...

you hate on someone when they accel in preformance but you do nothing when that person faces health challenges, i didn't see anyone say hey you had chemo that's not fair.

Saludos

Let's speak about Le Tour .
