looks like this thread was a winner

i recommend philosophy books.

all of them.

and then kill yourself.

cuz that would be worth a thread.

"kid kills himself because he read too much philosophy"

yeah, i'd post in that thread.

not this one though.

I am currently reading The Library of America's release of H.P. Lovecraft's Tales. If you are into horror, suspense, the unknown, the occult and the beyond (o.O), you might dig Lovecraft. His short stories are the direct influence for a lot of today's horror movies (Evil Dead, Dagon, Re-Animator, Beyond the Walls of Sleep, etc...) and is surely the inspiration for many of today's horror writers. I'm sure Koontz has borrowed from him before, especially with stories like 'Phantoms'

Snow Crash by Neil Stephenson

I am reading a lot of Jules Vernes. I get most if for free right off of gutenberg.org.

I have always admired the visionary guy and it's a shame not much is said about him even if it's still very relevant today (more so then 100 years ago ). I was listening to a literrary show on the radio the other day and they talked about him a bunch and laughed cause they thought was wacky like that.
