I'm sorry, but that ass-thrusting-jiggle has got to be the most disgusting and degrading excuse for a 'dance move' ever. I know its been around for ages, especially in the islands, but there's no way in hell I'd ever let my daughter dance like that, ever.
It amazes me how women still sign up to be in videos like this.

I totally agree and see where you are coming from, I won't lie. But I do find myself doing it at times, NOT like on the videos though, faaaaar from that, but I guess it comes from having friends that like to go to different clubs, so different styles of dancing is needed. But yes I do see your point though ......I laugh thinking of what your face must have been like watching this.

Popular feminism is dead in our society.
Not only are women victims of an oppresive society, but they are actively participating in their own cultural slavery.

It's pretty sickening.

Oh, and I would like to say that it would be REALLY refreshing to see one of these artists come up with something original and unique, rather than the usual skank dancers and gangsters singing into the screen.

Sad. Honestly...donkeys?...

Theresa: not only are the women in this video further enslaving themselves to a demiurge cultural movement, but so too are the black males. The saddest thing I see is that popular hip hop is scene as liberation for the young black males, when it is little more than a wiser, more deceptive and cunning slave driver. Brutal.

Good point.

It's funny... those of us who have been oppressed (women, black people, and gays,) are now being enslaved by something entirely different, and equally as humiliating.

I wish people would come to their senses.

What do hip hop vidoes have to with slavery? As far as I know, if your music video is on Much Music/MTV, you are probably doing pretty well for yourself.

Bu there is no originality in any of these hip hop videos.

Standard hip hop video formula:
-Rent a mansion in a neighborhood you'd never really live in
-Rent a fleet of expensive cars
-Rent a bunch of scantily clad women, who do nothing but show their backside
-Have a fat wad of money to flash in front of camera lens
-Rappers must have lots of bling to wear (bonus points for 'grillz' in the mouth)
-Rappers must wear 4XL t-shirts or sports jerseys & pants that hang below the ass, despite the high-brow surroundings of their house/car/dressed up women- apparently, streetwear doubles as high fashion.
-Make sure to grab your balls, throw fists in camera lens, and position head by all those big 'ole booty's.
-Make sure video has no plot.

Et voila! Instant MTV star.

I never said there was any originality in hip hop videos. I agree with every single point. I still maintain that hip hop has anything to do with slavery.

Ya, I agree. I'm with you on that point.

And, on another matter, if women wanna be 'objects' in a video, instead of 'subjects', let them. Their choice. But I guess Theresa's right in that she doesn't need to like it herself.

Oh the irony, that this shit is upsetting to some/many women, but at the same time, its women themselves who are activity choosing to do it

I think its a gay video , but thats as far as I'm concerned. Im not offended by the video of its portrayal of women as objects in it. Its a music video. Parents educate/monitor/teach ur kids if you dont want them to be exposed to or influenced by this type of shit in popular culture. That's your job.

The rest of the society that is old enough to properly think on their own, they gotta decide for themselves, and if they decide its cool or OK, that's they choice, and there's nothing innately wrong about it.
