England - Portugal (July 1st) [Quarter Finals]

...let's hope for a good game not decided on penalties.

Posted by noikeee on Jun-28-2006 19:14:

i'm only hoping for it to end 11 against 11 without any controversy, and i'm not optimistic

srsly, that game was so boring -_-

anyway this match could go either way...i'd like to see Portugal take it.

1-0 Portugal

This game has the potential to be the closest of all the other games this weekend. I really want England to win, however Portugal has a much stronger team. England has left much to desire this world cup. Hopefully they can pull it off but I think otherwise.

I'll call Portugal 2-1

Posted by smallSHEEP on Jun-28-2006 19:42:

4-1 England!

I am of course making the assumption that we finally turn up at this World Cup.

england ftl, what a shite football they're producing

likewise, i want us to lose fair & square for once!

2-1 portugal, england scoring first

Posted by Saka on Jun-28-2006 20:38:

They are missing 2 players arent they, after the Holland game which was a farce, oh and the sooner someone accidentally breaks Figo's legs the better.

England 2 - 0
If both were scored in the first half I'd be really pleased.

Posted by isoterra on Jun-28-2006 20:59:

i get the feeling it would be a convincing win for portugual if they had a full squad. with those two missing it's pretty much even but still have a bad feeling about it

Posted by sykadelik on Jun-28-2006 21:20:

I think we will win convincingly. I mean compare the two squads:

Euro 2004

England: James, Gary Neville, Terry, Campbell, Ashley Cole, Beckham, Lampard, Gerrard, Scholes, Owen, Rooney.
Subs: Robinson, Walker, Bridge, Carragher, Butt, Joe Cole, Dyer, Heskey, Vassell, Hargreaves, Phil Neville.

World Cup 2006

Robinson, Neville, Ferdinand, Terry, Ashley Cole, Carrick, Beckham, Lampard, Gerrard, Joe Cole, Rooney.
Subs: Bridge, Campbell, Carragher, Carson, James, Jenas, Lennon, Walcott, Downing, Hargreaves, Crouch.

Heskey and Phill Neville were in the side, that's shocking. Plus we'll start with Ferdinand, an in-form Joe Cole and Calamity won't be in goal.

This time we can call on the likes of Downing, Crouch, Carragher, Lennon and hopefully Walcott!

On paper it looks good.

As much as I want England to win , I gutta say it's gonna be a very tight match.

Really donno who's gonna win it.

But one thing for sure ,Beckham's gonna play a major role in this game. He's eighter gonna score or assist.

p.s here's a related article: England-Portugal ref has history with Beckham

Posted by Siesta on Jun-28-2006 22:26:

The best is that they lose both! but that isnt possible

But I hate portugay more than england!

so england, beat those faggets!

lol looks like the media is bored on the first non world cup day as well. they always bring up random shit like this to add fuel to an alreay potentially fiery game. Just because the ref sent beckham of because of a bad challenge doesnt mean he has an agenda against him.

Now being south american if his wife gave birth to a incredibly sexy blond haired baby with a zoolander personality 9 months after beckham left the area, it would have been a different story & besides with blatter finally putting his foot down on refs, i think the card flashing should be on the decline from here on.

england to take this in a very close game. 1 - 0

the last game i remember between England and Portugal that ended on penalties was one of the most thrilling matches i've ever seen.

you talking about Swiss-Ukraine?

I hope Putugal wins. They play hard, but they can play football, something England hasn't shown yet.

haha.. betting the groom secretly went over there to shake them by the hand

Posted by noikeee on Jun-29-2006 21:50:

i'm already fucking sick of the buildup to the game, and the pathetic battle and hype between portuguese media and english media.

Posted by Member of X on Jun-29-2006 23:20:

Definitely rooting for England but I see Putogal winning 2-1. I don't know how England has been winning, they have great individual players who don't play well as a team. I can't remember how many shots Lampard kicked WAY over the goal. Countless. Portugal just seems to have a little more magic out there, being on their own or it being the refs giving it to them.

Posted by isoterra on Jun-29-2006 23:51:

i think one thing on our side is that lampard *surely* can't possibly go much further without hammering one in, it's getting ridiculous how many times he's fucked chances up!

Posted by fastmp3 on Jun-30-2006 04:42:

COME ON ENGLAND
