I was really excited about this one but I have a ton of other (non party) stuff going on this weekend, so I'm going to sit this one out.

I thought you had that covered? You know some of the staff so maybe it won't be so bad? DJ Vibe was also licensed...so I don't think you'll have much problems.

Wow, what a roll call

Fortunately, this just means that I'll have plenty of room to go nuts heh. Whoever's still going...see you tonight.

Review

One of the best nights of the year for me...and I'm not joking.

The fact that hardly anyone that I knew went, made it so much better. I didn't have to worry about seeing people I didn't like, or drama, or dealing with sketchy individuals, or intimidation. Since it was a friday night it was pretty empty till about 1:30. There was plenty of room for me to dance, and I had a smile on my face the whole night. The system was a bit tweaked and sounded so much better than I remembered. For once, I actually liked the lighting. Since there weren't many people around it was more noticeable, and the light operators performed an excellent job at setting the mood for each song. The footage of various Pac-Man games on the visual display was so sick. The crowd consisted of old Industry partiers and industrial fans. The sketch levels were very low, since most people drank. I was very surprised to see quite a handful of beautiful women; they weren't regulars either. The vibe was surreal; everyone was into the tunes. Unfortunately, they closed at 5:30, since the crowd died out.

As far as the sets go...It's VERY hard to put it into words, because it was just that good to describe. The opening set from Barbi was flawless. I had never heard of her beforehand, but she did not disappoint. She was almost as good as the headliner, which usually isn't a good thing, but since she making a name for herself it was quite suitable. She played some really awesome retro tech and hard electro, similar to what The Hacker would play. At one point I was really tempted to go up to the dj booth and ask her if I could be her Ken lol. I'm hoping she makes an appearance once again in the next few months. Kenny Glasgow went on after, with the trademark cigarette in his hand. I don't need to tell you that he was awesome, because Kenny G knows how to fuck you up. He ranks up there as one of my favourite locals... because that ****** always plays the underground stuff. I wasn't feeling his last half hour; he totally lost me at that point and it was so farfetched that I wasn't sure his set would progress well into The Hacker's.

At around 2 am The Hacker finally made his appearance. I hadn't seen him before, and I didn't know that he even existed until I saw the flyer a few weeks ago. I dled a set from a few months back that made my jaw drop...and friday night...my jaw hit the floor. I did not hear one bad track all night. Every single tune that he played was a bomb. I tried to dodge them, but I got hit every single time . He played most of the tunes from the set I dled.

RIDICULOUSLY AMAZING HARD PUMPING ELECTRO TECH

^^ sums it up very well. He played the best electro I have ever heard. The whole time I was thinking..Swedish Mafia who? Honestly I don't like to compare, but the mafia had nothing on The Hacker. His style was very hard and very far from the commercial electro that I was used to. The techno mixed in there was the perfect combination. He played alot of his productions...and he played one song that made me, George, and everyone else on the dancefloor shiver.

The Hacker Feat. Miss Kittin - Masterplan

Holy...Fuck...Tune of the night! It really tripped me out and Miss Kittin's haunting vocals was a total mindfuck. I went absolutely mental, and had fun watching others float into their own little worlds. I told George, "Dude...if he plays my favourite song...I think I'll go into overdrive." A couple of songs later....I started to hear those familiar beep blurp and blops...and I trainspotted it from countries away...

Paul Woolford - Erotic Discourse!!!!!!!!

I remember the first time I heard that tune...I believe it was Donald Glaude at TIL. Fanciulli played it Freedom, and DJ Vibe played it as Sonic...but this time was the greatest..because of the awesome soundsystem. I lost it...completely. I was prancing around the dancefloor, unleashing the clown inside me with my feet. I almost lost my voice screaming throughout the whole tune. I even had to take a break for two songs after to fully recover...haha. One of the sets of the year for me...I have never been so impressed.

At around 4 am Smash Tv went on live....20 minutes later and half the crowd had left; talk about a mood killer. As interesting as it was, his live performance of trippy, ambient electronica wasn't doing it for me. If I wanted to hear someone play the Xylophone I would have gone to preschool instead. Thankfully it lasted for about a half an hour. Method 11:11 went on right after..and I was hoping for some retribution...but alas...he played more commercial stuff. As much as I love the regular sonic tunes, it was NOT the night for it. He ended at 5:30 with some diva house. No one was feeling it. The Car Wash Crew was absent and it was way too early to be playing that stuff.

Like I first mentioned, this was one of the greater nights of the year, both the vibe of the party and the ch00ns. You guys really missed out...I can't wait until The Hacker comes back; I definately encourage everyone to check him out next time because it was indeed THAT GOOD!
