Live Sets
If you don't feel like spending the time to Dl live sets, check out this web site.
http://www.live-mixes.com/index2.htm
If anyone has used this web site before let me know.
wow i never saw that before....but isnt that illegal for them to SELL live sets...unless they are giving royalties to the artists??...i mean i think its a good idea BUT if your going to profit off giving live sets away then u SHOULD pay the artist a portion...or jus give them away for free.....
Yeah there probally is some sort of leaglity behind doing this, but I'm thinking about using them, sometimes I just can't be bothered to Dl the sets.
oh ya i might also....but i am jus saying that site MUST have gotten some sort of permission...atleast i would think they did
This place isn't that great... They don't have much.....
Plus, why BUY and pay money when you can DOWNLOAD and get it for free??? It doesn't make sense. I'm on SLOW 28.8K and I'm getting live sets! Slowly but, surely. I just have to wait longer than the rest of you who are on broadband connections but, I wouldn't BUY a set unless it was NOT played on the radio and it's a good set by a famous DJ (like Tiesto, Corsten, PvD, Rank 1, etc. (example: if thise place had Tiesto's FULL NINE hour set at DD and in high quality, then it would be worthwhile but, this place has the SAME stuff as we TAs get for free!)...
I feel your pain ali92, but I just leave the pc on downloading when I'm at school... a nice newly downloaded liveset usually cheers me up after 6 hours at the drone factory
As for that website, there can be no doubt that it is illegal but.. *cough*audiogalaxy*cough* It could be useful if I didn't want to spend a week downloading that 6 hour tiesto set which they have but, since everyone just downloads livesets for free, whose going to pay for them anyway?
I`m sorry but this site looks far from professional. The main site doesn`t look like any professional e-commerce site I know and the e-commerce application itself is just a demo version of professional e-commerce solution by Red Hat (you can see this in the "about us" section). Also the sets are (most probably) the ones that were ripped from the radio we all have (See: Tiesto Dutch Dimension 6h 40 min set...). I higly doubt that this site has any permission to sell these sets.
All that will happen is that it will draw attention to the live sets floating around on the net. Up until now noone really bothered about the livesets as they were some kind of promotion tool, but if someone starts selling them...
dunno, i wouldn't really buy anything from that site, unless, as ali192 said, it had full tiesto's set from dutch dimension
i enjoy downloading music on my 56k. completing a full 192kbs rip of a 9-minute tune gives me almost as much pleasure as listening to it. so every liveset and every tune is important to me. with buying cd's with livesets/tunes it's almost like "yeah, whatever, quantity, easy to get"
Theres one word Id use for this site, CON
6 for a cd with a mp3 of a live set on it?
Imm only a 56ker and I jsut leave my pc constantly downloading all the time, as other people have said audiogalaxy is the place to go(as well as trancEaddictt of course!)

It's only a con if you're not prepared to spend the money. If somebody's willing to part with some cash for the convenience of this method then good luck to them. OK there are a couple of ethical arguments but as far as copyright is concerned, given that most of us spend countless hours searching for brand new vinyl rips I don't think we're in a position to complain.
And before anybody says anything about somebody making money from DJ's work.....so do HMV. And yes I realise the artists don't get any money this way, but they don't get any when you download the liveset either.
I wont be using them myself but if people are willing to pay the money then everybody's a winner.
