[Trance] Distant Horizon - EverLight (full)

Hey guys, i havnt been hanging round the promo section much recently. ive been busy with myspace, www.edmspectrum.com and getting internet radio play time.

anyway, im back with a new one. this one is called Distant Horizon, and is an attempt to get my stuff sounding as pro as possible (after listening to lots of pro tracks recently and comparing them to mine)

you can listen here:

http://xinthetic.sitesled.com/Dista...20EverLight.mp3

and on my myspace page:

in other news i was chosen for "showcase artist of the week" on www.edmspectrum.com < look to the left of the home page. its a small site, but i was pretty chuffed

enjoy!

Kick sounds more like a hardcore kick than a trance kick. Kinda bugs me. Maybe something softer would fit the track better.

love the pads in the intro!

Hearing lots of distortion in the breakdown. Might want to check your levels there.

Breakdown is a bit too long for my liking. It sort of kills the energy you were building with the intro.

Melody is nice, but a little simplistic for this sort of track, especially with a breakdown of these proportions.

I like the lead synth, but it sounds a bit buried in the mix. Might wanna bring that out a bit.

I like the overall atmosphere of the track.

It needs some work, but it definately has potential. Not quite pro sounding yet, but getting there!

Thanks for the reply!

Fair play to most of your points, as for the distortion however, im not sure what your hearing, but whatever it is, its not distortion.

To master this track i exported a pre-master .wav, then loaded the wav into live 5, and used the waves C4 multiband compressor along with the Ultramaximizer+ hard limiter. and mastered it to 0.3 dB. and during the whole process never came across any distortion...

The kick is really hard.
The gated clap has too much reverb.
Is this hard trance? Like dumonde?
Nice lead melody... The breakdown is too long.
Good pad but try to vary it more.
It just follows the lead.
Nope it's not hard at all.
It's decent.

5/10

Just listening now...

I like the start to this, but mix does sound a little messy. I have similar problem, so difficult to get a clear mix but still have that "big" trance sound. I think you've got a really good choice of sounds in there.

The melody is good and develops well during the breakdown but breakdown maybe a little bit too long, just a taste thing though probably. Pads are great.

Really enjoyed this, i like your style, similar to mine. Just need a bit of work on the mix.

Well done!

Jon
