Finding yourself

I was having a very serious conversation yesterday with a good friend of mine about finding oneself. Self-realization is not the easiest goal to accomplish, considering it's at the top of life's hierarchy of fulfillment. So my question is: Have you reached that part of your life? Have you found yourself?

There are numerous ways to achieve this. How does one know when they have found themselves? It's probably not the same for everyone, but in my case I know I achieved this because I am truly happy with myself. I look at my faults as gifts; I have never had so much confidence. I know what my purpose in life is and what power I have. I am able to juggle my own needs as well as others' needs without falling too far to one side. It wasn't easy to get here, but I had some help from unexplainable encounters...I won't get into detail though lol. I'm curious as to how many people have achieved this, and at what age...because I don't know too many young individuals who have. And please don't mistake this for cockiness haha.

Discuss...I want to hear some stories

HHmmm.. well I don't consider myself perfect, so I guess I haven't found myself yet.

I never thought i would reach that stage, but i found out a long time, ago, once you give up the search for answers, the answers find you.

well for years back in australa i was unhappy with how every was going. seemed to be getting older and not going anywhere.

well i decided to use my dual citizenship and go live in canada for a year with friends and family. i have a had a fantastic time here once again. but it has given me a new perspective.

i now appreciate what i had back home alot more especially my great group of friends. plus i now know exactly what i want to do career wise. i have found direction and i feel i have found myself in my year away.

i was actually thinking about this a few weeks ago because i was talking to a friend back home on msn and he said to me thats why i left and i said i guess your right.

I am definitely working on it and slowly figuring things out for myself. I still have a journey ahead of me, but I know that I do so I shouldn't worry about it too much; worrying won't help me

I have accomplished some things already and those have taken time as well. And the other things that I do want to accomplish will come in time and I am not gonna rush anything along.

Once you get there, you have no idea how happy you will be. Until then, you can still be happy though.

To be honest, the idea that one can find themself in finality is riddled with error... finding yourself is a continued work, which will never end - your definition of self will continue changing, in the process of individuation, until you pass.

Good point, but I never said it was the end...it's never absolute. There's still more to uncover but I have reached the climax...that huge turning point...which is what this thread is about...

to completely know oneself goes beyond the hierarchy of life and is only reached when you pass..into the next life. That's what you meant is it not?

The sky was dark
The moon was high
All alone just she and I.

Her hair was soft
Her eyes were blue
I knew just what she wanted to do.

Her skin so soft
Her legs so fine
I ran my fingers down her spine.

I didn't know how
But I tried my best
I started by placing my hands on her breast.

I remember my fear my fast beating heart
But slowly she spread her legs apart
And when I did it I felt no shame.

All at once the white stuff came
At last it's finished it's all over now
My first time ever at milking a cow.....

Not too long ago I read a beautiful quote that really got me thinking about this whole "finding yourself" bullshit...

It went something like this..."it's better to build yourself than to find yourself"

just my 2 cents

Posted by b4k-oz on Jul-05-2006 13:26:

Just live life, have fun and always reach for love and happiness.

The rest doesn't matter --and finding yourself just isn't as important as achieving happiness in your life Chris

I do have to say once again that attempting to have DEEP DISH pizza the day after seeing DEEP DISH is NOT a good idea. I repeat: no matter how good it sounds, it is NOT a good idea. lol.
