Ignorance....
I saw this posted on another forum board I'm a member of...
"Anyone else like techno?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have been browsing through the forums and have not seen shit about my favorite type of music. Try listening to Sandstorm by DaRude or Till I Come by ATB and try saying that techno is not the shit
Anyway anyone else share my interest? What are some favorite songs?"
I came close to having to buy a new monitor...
hahahaha... you get used to it.
tell him that Rupaul is oh so hot and has the sickest happy hardcore
uhm.. techno?
HANDS IN THE AIR TECHNO

^^

I've just learned to accept the ignorance. They'll never learn. We're better off without them at our parties. Let them be happy blasting their Sandstorm and Til I Come from their suped up cars with too much bass.
I don't even try explaining it anymore lol. Its a hell of a lot easier having people think you listen to darude than explaining it

i am sure that when you first heard an electronic beat, you knew everything about "techno", house, trance, and everything.

I personally love taking a edm newbie to a big event and see their faces light up when they hear the beauty of our music. It's about sharing and educating people not brushing them aside just because they dont know the difference between atb and techno. Grow up!

One of the things that pisses me off the most about people who listen to dance music is when people start acting like snobs if others don't understand the distinctions that are placed on the various types of electronic music.
First of all the distinctions themselves are very blurred, and I believe only really useful for trying to describe things, rather than place dj's or tunes in exact categories.
Also dance music is not like pop music in that a person can have easy access to the tunes. They are rarely on the radio, television or played in public places. I remember when I was first starting to have an interest in electronic music I found it frustrating that I did not know where to go to get it, and that I had no way of knowing what was good.
Yelling at people calling them ignorant for not knowing "distinctions" will only scare people away. I still am fuzzy about what certain things are and I've been listening to it for more than five years now.
So I guess I'm ignorant too.
ROFL
I've had people repeatedly insist that my melodic trance is disco, and I think that's sort of silly. But I can see how people would think "techno" was a generic term for electronica if they were new... in fact, walking to a new stage friday night I had one of the strangers I was with ask me "what kind of techno is this?" I just answered "house" rather than derail the conversation.
Quotation marks are fun.

Summary of thread thus far: Elitist comes out; Elitist gets owned; I laugh.
The Count says:
One Techno Beat, Ha Ha Ha Ha!
Two Techno Beats, Ha Ha Ha Ha!
Three Techno Beats, Ha Ha Ha Ha!
Four Techno Beats, Ha Ha Ha Ha!
Keeps the beats counting!
