On a serious note - You probably named the worst, most generic and most cheesy psy out there. IM used to be good, but after deeply disturbed they went all pop and got really bad.

This is what I call good psy.

are you serious? What you just posted is an excellent example of some of the cheesiest psy out there. GMS, 1200 Mics, Skazi, Infected Mushroom etc are known for their cheesy productions. Funny that you start off by bashing israeli psy and then continue to post a cheesy clip ^^

Anyway Israeli psy have really gone piss poor during the last couple of two years. There are loads of producers which use nearly exactly the same sound patterns (just as epic trance), this resulting in loads of mediocre tunes which sound the same.
Also sad is that Israel lost it's best producer, Cosma, in an accident two years ago. Since his death it has clearly gone downhills.

Most interesting psytrance at the moment is the progpsy comming out of Scandinavia with acts such as Vibrasphere, Ticon, Human Blue, Tegma, Gaudium etc.

I was trying to stick within the same style as the artists he mentioned. Prog-psy is a completely different sound, probably closer to prog house or older trance than it is to full on psy. If you want to call it cheesy, fine. But 1200 mics and old IM are still miles away from skazi and the likes.

he actually asked "is there any other better psytrance out there?". So mentioning other styles is relevant.

And you say that 1200 Mics is miles away from Skazi and the likes?

I wouldn't be so sure.
Check these samples:

1200 Mics

Skazi

Maybe so. It's just that when I hear 'psy', I don't think of vibrapshere, gaudium, etc. And it just seems to me that generally, people who tend to like full on don't like those, and vice-versa.

Yeah, they're both really bad and cheesy. But we were talking about the cosmologist here

The thing is. Neither full on or progpsy is "pure" psytrance. Where full on is more for the wider audience and incorporates easy accessible elements such as catchy hooks (electric guitars etc) progpsy incorporates the groove from progressive trance/house.

Real psytrance on the other hand is all about the psychedelic aspect. Check out Hallucinogens stuff and you see what I mean.

Err I don't listen to psytrance as much as regular trance and I must say I can't tell for the life of me what is "cheesy" in psytrance. Cause I mean, no psytrance really sounds cheesy to me, I guage psytrance more by the repeditiveness I suppose. I mean cheesy trance is pretty damn easy to pick out, but I just can't feel the "cheese" in those samples you posted.

no one has asked the question: what the hell is "isrely psy" ????

Go to www.chaosunlimited.com and check out sound clips for the following:

Hallucinogen - Demention/Trancespotter [from the album 'The Lone Deranger']
Vibrasphere - Purple Floating [from the compilation 'Trance of Scandinavia']
Vibrasphere - Sweet September [from the compilation 'Goa Beach Vol.5']
Space Cat - Beam Me Up [from the album 'Beam Me Up']
Jaia - Breathing Ocean [from the album 'Blue Energy']
Cosma - Cusanam [from the album 'Simplicity']
Nexus 6 - Silicon Sound (Protoculure remix) [from Protoculture's album 'Natural Selection']
Fatali - City of God [from the compilation 'Wildlife']

To everyone saying progressive psy isnt psytrance - you are out of your mind. Sweet September is one of the best things to come out of Psy in years.

it's also known as "full on psytrance". It's energetic, more easy accessible and often loaded with melodies. It origins from Israel where it also is most popular. Example of producers: Astrix, Infected Mushroom, Skazi, Xerox, Melicia, Space Buddha.

Vibrasphere - Morning Breeze, from the excellent album Archipelagio released recently on Digital Structures.

OMFG, I puke on Rock Into The Future. My friend's being a dork about it cause he thinks it's "TRANCE, PSY TRANCE". Every time he mentions it (and he's normally one of my best friends) I feel like kicking him in the bollocks. Morning Breeze is awesome though!
