Is "Waves - The Trance Experience" (Book & DVD set) worth looking at?

Any reviews, or first hand accounts of whether it's worthwhile? I know all the info and more could be found right here, but there's almost so much on this forum I don't know where to start!! There's something about a book and a structured learning plan that appeals to me.

Any clues?

use search, there was a thread about this a while ago. Imho it seems nothing more than a marketing campain around the ridiculous overpriced waves software.

The dance music manual is top notch for dance music, it's very interesting but it does have a horrible title.

^^^ Dude, even though you had not tried it, you have an opinion of it?

Well, I bought the book and I personally think it was great. It does not push Waves plug ins - it uses them as an example. You can use other plug ins to accomplish the same and just because producer is showing you the tools of the trade using specific program, does not mean that he's "PUSHING IT". Nowhere in the book does it say that "YOU MUST BUY THESE PLUG INS TO ACCOMPLISH WHAT I RECOMMEND HERE" to get the results I got.

Sorry, but your argument is silly. It's like saying "hey don't buy this piano training manual because so-and-so is showing you how to play the chords on Steinway, so he's trying to get you to buy a Steinway piano".

Bottom line - I have the book, I use it and it's worth it. If you got all the free time in the world to search through thousands of forums and posts of questionable quality and accuracy, written by some amatures and hacks (cough cough), then by all means - save yourself few bucks if it means that much to you. If you got disposable $60 or so bucks and want some quality advise, get it. Worth its weight in gold.

If you can afford to buy the book, then do it. I've not read it, but for me, reading how to's and wotnot off a computer screen gives me this shitz. I'd much rather have a printed version of text. Even if the book isn't that good, you might still pick up one or two things which you find useful.
