Exclamation Poor Decision making...(Sensation Black) (Pic and video)

Amsterdam Arena, Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

ID&T makes one of the worst booking foul-ups in EDM history by getting Rob Gee to perform at Sensation Black 2006.

Keep in mind: Sensation BLACK is all about hardstyle, hardcore, hardtrance and techno.

Rob Gee = Normally hardcore, but last night they played ROCK/Alternative/metal shit.

The end result?

VIDEO (NOW with sound! Thanks to Jordy for this find!)

Can we say owned?

As Rob Gee was starting the last song in their 'set,' a fan rushed the stage to attack the band. Everything happened so fast but the bum-rush resulted in Rob Gee's act getting stopped right in the middle, and the crowd cheered as they left the stage.

Yep. Rock would have done better at Sensation WHITE. BLACK is meant for very nasty, pounding beats and tunes. White lacks that in a sense. Then again, White was utter shit this year anyway, except for Ferry.

Posted by nfekted on Jul-09-2006 03:20:

oh i see. damn it sucks for something like this to happen at an event. I guess the guy needed to hear some edm

Posted by av1 on Jul-09-2006 03:26:

The people booking DJs for Sensation White seem to have forgotten that trance is what made Sensation White. They booked the worst DJs this year. Ferry and Tiesto were the only ones worth seeing, and Tiesto's set was only about 35 minutes.

The fans at the event should have beaten up the event organizers and promoters instead of the band.

That would have been interesting to watch.

This is my review of Sensation Black in a nutshell, based on just watching the video stream:

And that concludes our broadcast night.....WOW.

Okay, EVERYONE GO HOME!

Incredible night....truly memorable, to say the least.

We saw asses, boobs, Rob Gee getting owned and the morning sun.

And we heard 300 and 1000BPMs.

No doubt about it. Black > White.

Posted by Ouwe Dwaas on Jul-09-2006 11:13:

the guy that was beaten and kicked had a skull fracture.
Rob Gee and that guy from Slipknot were arrested and brought to jail.

What exactly happened was this:

Rob Gee was playing terrible music (as always)
I was listening and chatting with DA and we both agreed that it was terrible.
Than DA was telling me that the crowd was booing.

And yes they did.
30.000 people were throwing beer, sitting on the floor and yelling all kinds of things to Rob Gee.

What Rob Gee did, was not mature.
He was making the crowd booing more hehe

And than the guy came on the stage, throw beer in Rob's face and than he kicked and beat the guy.

And the security?

How is it possible.

This was a dark night for ID&T.

Dont talk if you werent there

Hey Dark Angel, I was at Sensation White, It wasnt shit, It was actually pretty awesome and i was surprised due to the lack of lineup compared to years before. White just isnt your thing, so dont bash it because its not your thing, The vibe there was amazing, everyone was cool, and the music was better than I expected, Sander was amazing for me, and he hasnt impressed me until this one... As for Sensation Black, getting someone from Slipknot to play this was a really bad idea by ID-T. Hopefully there will be a Sensation next year...

Boulderdash. A lot of people in the Sensation White thread agreed there was too much house. Last year was the same goddamn bullshit, only this year was much worse, period. "This is Sensation?" What kind of horseshit is that? That's not the kind of anthem Sensation has had every year. Every year it was a trance tune turned classic, by the likes of Rank 1, Push and other artists, not that marica Sander. Wretched.

okay it's finally in the news here.
Rob Gee and the rest gets a 2500 euro fine per person (almost USD 3000)
And the guy has to explain everything to the judge.

And it seems that the guy that climb on the stage tried to beat up Rob Gee and he missed and that's why Rob Gee kicked and beat him up
Rob Gee felt threatened thats why he did that
And that's why the guys of SlipKnot helped him.

He could just walk away and let the security take that guy away

LOLLLL Yep, that's how it went down! Everyone in the Sensation BLACK thread was like "Tell me I didn't see that!!?" and also grateful for that fan getting the act stopped. I've NEVER heard a Sensation crowd BOOO before...that was horrific, bwahahahahahhaa Great find on the vid, Jordy!

I thought sensation black was on july 15-th?

like a fungus which is left untreated, the whole sensation event is getting worse and worse by the year.

Totally BS. Sensation is about the show, the dresscode and the feeling of ' unity '. It was never about the music or trance. At sensation they book the most populair sounds at the moment and trance isn't popular anymore in the Netherlands.

I understand that trance lovers are disappointed that there is less trance. But hey, this is the concept of sensation deal with it.

Ow yeah about the topic:

Rob Gee is an idiot as well as the moron who walked on the stage.

Judging by your post you may well be the foremost expert in total BS, as you sure can type it. But I understand, to each his own. And let me remind you in case you forgot or didn't know, nothing brings about a feling of 'unity' and a great vibe better than a great trance show.

As for your claims regarding what is poular in the Netherlands, I cannot account for the lack of musical taste of other people, including you or that country. And last time I checked the top three DJs in the world are trance DJs, so your claim that trance is no longer popular at all is laughable. And Sensation was a world class and world known event, not just an event for people from the Netherlands. So even assuming that house is the most popular dance music in the Netherlands, as you claim, none of the top rated or best house/tech DJs were even booked at Sensation White. For example Deep Dish, Carl Cox, Eric Morillo, Benny Benassi, Roger Sanchez, etc were all missing from the lineup, and are much better than the house DJs Sensation booked. So even if house was best suited for the event, they missed that boat as well. You need to 'deal with' that genius.

And do not worry, I deal with Sensation's poor lineup just fine by not travelling and paying to see the sub-par house DJs they brought, the likes of which I could see any time here in Miami for $20.00, get bored after an hour, and go elsewhere.

FYI: Last time I checked this website is called "Trance Addict," not "Boring House Addict." Maybe you are the guy they beat up on that Sensation Black video, your brain damage just kicked in, and you missed that.

i love trance, but when it comes to the subject of sensation, i think you are better off leaving it alone. the concept is something that was started out one way and developed into something else. It comes down to this:

they can book whoever they want for sensation; however shitty he/she might be, whether they ask fucking justin timberlake to perform, it will still sell out. people go for the event and for the name not for the music. Sensation (especially white) will always sell out because it is all about the marketing and it is an event for the masses, not an event for the music lovers. the people that go to black are much more specific about going for that specific music than white. if they were going to ask some shit performers to come, it should've been to white, not black. id&t got bitten in the ass and they deserve it for letting sensation turn into such a joke

it's sad because it used to be an amazing event, but true. this coming from someone who has been to sensation white & black, lived in amsterdam and now lives in miami, so take my word for it

Haha that stupid DJmag list??? That is not representative at all. We all know that. And well I don't need a list to see wat popular is at the moment in the netherlands. I see that in every club or event there are a huge amount of dj's spinning house/groove/progressive house.

That's your opinion, but in fact it isn't true. Ofcourse trance can give you a feeling of unity but I also witnissed this at techno, house and progressive parties.

Benny Benassie, hahaha yeah right, I hope you are kidding me.

Partly true but:
Benny Rodrigues= Huge dutch talent so he deserves a spot.
David Guetta= House dj with the same reputation as the one mentioned above
Erick E & Roog= The most popular DJ's at the moment in the netherlands
Sander Kleinenberg= One of the biggest DJ's at the moment
Steve Angello= One of the creators of the electro house hype

As you can see it is a quality line up but if ID-T wanted to book the DJ's you mentioned they wouldn't succeed:
Deep Dish= Exclusive booking at extrema outdoor festival
Carl Cox= Exclusive booking at dance valley
Eric Morillo= Exclusive booking at Dance Valley
Roger Sanchez= Would be possible but has been performing very often in the netherlands lately.

quote:

hahaha, your are talking like a 16 year old kid but FOR YOUR INFORMATION, I am a trance addict, as well as an house addict, minimal addict, progressive addict, techno addict and electro addict.
I am one of those persons who is open minded and willing to try new music, artists and dj's and not only focussing on one single style or dj.

In the netherlands we have the most proffesional events in the world. The feel, look and vibe is all written down in concepts. For example:

Dance Valley: The name says it all... it is a giant valley with an huge mainstage on the hill. Just like Woodstock, so expect atmosphere like woodstock.

Mystery Land: What you will see is mystery. It's like walking in a mystery forest with unexpected things.

Trance Energy: TRANCE music will get you energetic.

Sensation: THe whole experience is a SENSATION. It is about the show, the experience. The dresscode white is for Miles Stutterheim who died few years back. He came up with the idea and concept. The dresscode is also for building an united feeling.

Again if i would be only intersted in trance I would be dissapointed seeing only house dj's at sensation. BUT again it isn't about the musc or the style. If you want to go to a trance event go to Trance Energy,(although that event is one big cheese fest). If you want to go to parties where it is about the music go to:

Extrema Outdoor
Dance Valley
Mystery Land

Yes everything you say here it's true.
Add on your post:
Duncan Stutterheim (Owner of ID&T) doesn't really know what kind of people are coming to this amazing event and what music they prefer.

Especially with Black Edition, people come for the music and want to have a great party, you see from the 1st minute until the last it's all about the music and the amazing party it's becoming during the night ofcourse, this is all my opininon.
I've been to all Black Editions and last year for the first time to White, I've been also to 2000 and 2001 editions and that was just 1 edition.
And what I remembered of last year @ White is that people go crazy when they announce the DJ but that's it.
It's not about the music.
People dress in a way if they go to a model contest or something.
I visit White because of the lineup: GREAT MUSIC.
The year before I wanted to go, but to pay 60 euro's for only Paul Van Dyk and Sander Kleinenberg, no way!!!

The style of Rob Gee and Slipknot was an experiment that failed.
Hardcore and Metal is not the style for Black Edition.
Keep it with Hardstyle/HardTrance/Techno.

Last week before White, Duncan said at the press conference that the White concept is sold to more than 40 countries: USA, Australia, South Africa, Ukrain, China, Japan and many more countries.
Good for him, because with that money he can get a great line up for White and Black next year if there will be a next year.
