What are your favorite or hated game endings?
I just finished Half-Life 2 (on the medium difficulty setting) and was so damn dissappointed. The last mission was one of the easier ones in the game and thoroughly boring. I expected an epic battle against my foes and perhaps some new weapons and enemies, but alas there were none. Instead one has to fight the same enemies and there are plenty of health and armor kits everywhere. I may have to replay this game on a higher diffuclty setting.
I haven't finished too many games, but of the ones I have, I think I liked The Getaway the best. To be clear, the game is great, but the ending was longer than the other missions in the game, it was timed, and presented more obstacles. I wished the game makers increased the degree of diffulty, but the company probably wouldn't sell to many games I suppose.
Wow I am completely different. The last level in HL2 was one of my favorites!
My favorite ending of a game is probably Homeworld. I loved that game. The Yes song at the end made it even better.
The ending level to Sonic 2 on Genesis is one that I can STILL remember as being an adrenaline-rusher. I cant think of anything else atm...
Silent Hill 1 & 3 UFO endings FTW
FF6 ending best ending i've seen. all the FFs after that had relatively meh endings
Ones that stick out in my mind...
I loved the Super Mario Bros 2 ending. Rygar's ending I liked also.
Huge letdowns were Karnov on the NES... All you got was black screen that said "Congratulations." No credits, music, nothing. Just back to the title screen.

Some of the best...
Final Fantasy IV: One of the first games I ever beat to completion, thought the ending was great as a youngster... Still enjoy it today
Final Fantasy VI: I'll agree this is the best story/ending to any FF game.
Super Metroid: Somehow all of the endings seem appropriate... Even the weakest one seemed somehow appropriate for a game without any real story.
Super Mario World: Just the credits rolling was fun to watch
Some of the worst...
Final Fantasy VII: It had potential to be one of the all time greatest endings in the history of gaming, and dicked it, big time. The game itself is still worth playing through, which speaks volumes about its quality as the ending is no where near as rewarding as playing through the game.
Tomb Raider Legend: I genuinely thought I had at least half a game left to go... I thought it was going to go to another loading screen for the next level... And that's when the credits roll...
Jade Empire: Worst. Endings. Ever. I felt cheated for even playing this game, thank God it only took like 8 hours to beat.
Oh, how could I forget this one.
The "real" ending in Chrono Cross (PS1)....that is, if you use the right combination spell against the last boss. The FMV at the end is amazing.

metal gear solid 3, i think its the longest "ending" in the series and one of the most emotional.
Yeah I agree, FFVI was a great ending, I think it took about 20-30min to play it out, made it worth the effort for such a reward.
I was disappointed with Grandia III's ending, it was very short and simple. It was about 2 min of a scene then the credits, that's it. guess after the amount of voice acting and the great graphics in it, there wasn't much room left for the end of the game. Game was fun, but disappointing ending.
These days the FF endings are more disappointing because they are so short. They just want the entire ending to play out in FMV and that makes it very short. Why not just use some game graphics for the end so we get more of a reward? I like a nicely completed story more than flashy graphics to show the end of a long journey personally.

i liked the ending of c&c, the gdi campain, there was a different movie if you saved the temple of nod as the last building and destroyed it with the ion cannon. it was cool
for me has to be the old PC game:
XCOM 2: Terror From the Deep
If you remember the first game (XCOM: UFO DEFENSE) you had to go to mars to destroy an alien base to win, but in the sequel it simply says after a while of playing in text that "You have succesfully saved the Earth from the Alien Invasion"
Very lame, this screen always seemed to come randomly. Who ever heard of an endgame w/o a major boss or really difficult mission. Spontaneous ending??? LAME!
