Jam packed club or chilled out lounge?

what do u guys prefer? was just having this convo with a TA.

i'm not really about being slammed in a crowded club fucked up on E, coke, and K (or whatever) any more, barely able to move or dance or talk and trying to get pictures of the DJ all night...i'm over that.


i'd rather be at a lounge outside or something and able to have a conversation with my friends with a big pitcher of sangria or something...but still with good music in the background..even if it's just a local DJ or something.

I dont care....

lately i've really been feelin' the chilled out lounge atmostphere wayyyy more than the jam-packed clubs.

Rob and i have gone out for big nights out at a club, hmmm... twice, since WMC! it's just so much work and stress, and it really hasn't been worth it. oh and we haven't done any drugs since WMC either. haha that "vacation" really fucked us up!

but tonight i'm spinning my first set out at a club ever... at a nice swank little lounge!

i like to be in a setting with lots of ppl, but not so many as you cant move. room to dance, and a person to chat with isnt more than a couple feet away.

chilled out lounge...better atmosphere imo

hey congrats!! that's awesome i didn't realize u were practicing that much and getting good enough for crowds. i'm jealous.

old crobar in sobe was my church too, and even though we usually had a bottle in the VIP, it was always such a damn hassle all night being coked up, and walking around the club all night and waiting in line at the bathrooms, bla bla bla.

Some of each. Just as long as it is what it's supposed to be. In other words, if it's a place with a huge, open floor & centered around the dj, it's supposed to be packed & crazy. If it's a nicer, more intimate place with a good layout, it's supposed to be relaxed & have fewer people. As long as that's true, the better the music, the more I enjoy it. If I had to choose between seeing one of my 5 favorite DJ's @ a great lounge-type place or a massive, completely unrestrained pit of hedonism...that's a problem I'd like to have. Variety makes the difference.

yeah i mean i haven't been playing that long but i feel like i have a pretty good handle on what i'm doing... of course i still screw up and i still have a lot to learn, but i think it'll be fun! i'm playing mad early too, 8-9:30pm, so even if i have some fuck-ups, hopefully there won't be too many witnesses.

just like Tiesto, i'll be mixing on the edge!

lol and i probably sound like Rob 'cause i'm opening for him at the place where he has a residency... but it really is a nice swanky little place. we've been spending a LOT of time there.

Depends what mood I'm in. Generally prefer chilled places.

i prefer something in the middle. i'd like to see dj's i like play out but then i wouldn't want the place so rammed i couldn't move and i wouldn't want it empty/quiet

actually, one of my best nights out involving drugs was when i saw Sasha at this smaller place in south beach called Amika Lounge...it's like one little room and an upstairs, but it's nowhere near being a huge club like space or crobar. anyway, i ate 2 pills (first one didn't work on me) and it was perfect!! i wasn't like rolling balls, but i was feelin good and had energy...it was a speedy pill with a mild body high. the first half of that night sucked cuz the first pill didnt work and i was at an 80's rock lounge and then i met this cool guy who was like, "hey sasha's at amika, wanna come?" i was like WHAT?? i had no idea. ended up being a pretty sweet night.

the place was so small and the DJ booth was right in the front of the dancefloor on the same level. u could like reach over and high five sasha, it was great. talk about the best of both worlds...that rarely happens any more.


whenever i hear about someone big in sobe like lawler or something, i get excited, but i never end up going cuz of what lucid said. it's too much damn hassle. even when u have hook ups at the door..it's just drama all night and my feet end up hurting cuz i can't sit anywhere. waiting for drinks, or even waiting around for ur cocktail waitress all night if u have a table..

Chillout Lounges are what ive been looking for lately.

oh and i think next time i go out for a mega-jam-packed-ultra-superrific-titty-hot-DJ club event, i want it to be just that.

the last 2 times we went out for big nights, i wasn't all that blown away by the DJs. i really need it to be just a fantastic set and fantastic vibe. i need to see a DJ who will make me dance with my hands up in the air for at least half the night.

I only go to the big club nights if its someone I reallllllly want to see (Zabiela comes to mind). And I guess going to a chilled out club would be cool every now and then but sometimes Id rather not pay 10 bucks for a jack and coke and just have some people over and dj myself.

Packed club + drugs. I'll grow up one of these years ...

Lounge 95% of the time. I usually like the laid back atmosphere with some nice soothing songs in the background sitting somewhere with a group of friends just laying back and sucking in the freedom of a good weekend. Also, i want to stay away from those evil candy ravers too.

its best when its balanced. not too crowded so that I can actually dance and not too isolated so that I can feed off the energy of other people.

then again, as long as the chicks outnumber the guys, its all good.
