[Review] Edgar V @ Metro 07.15.06

WOW!

That's how I always start my reviews . I just wanna start off by saying that leading up to this event I was just having a BAD DAY! I hit traffic on the expressway.. then I get in a fight with the stupid parking guy cuz he said I was gonna run his foot over. So i screamed at him! Anyways, I was only planning on staying there for an hour or two. YEAH RIGHT!

I always say this is the best Edgar set I've heard so this time i'm gonna add this set to my top 4. Ultra 2001 before Oakie, Thanksgiving 2004 after PVD, Thanksgiving 2005 with Talla and 2night

Edgar threw it dooooown nasty! He started off with Jump the next train vs Whiteroom [memories of Nov '04] and didn't stop. He pretty much played ALL the top tunes at the moment.

Highlight of my night was def THOMAS DATT - EVAPORATE.. I think rodrigo got footage of me going BANANAS and Marco V - I feel you [ TD mix] YAYYY! Plus so much more. For a good 30-40 mins Edgar went so hard and techy that I couldn't ID shit! I HOOOOOOOPE AND PRRRRRRRAY FOR A MONTHLY

Mel pretty much summed it up! He banged it, rocked it, everything you can think of. FUCKIN' PHENOMENAL!

WOW! From beginning to end.

I got there around 12 & saw Manny!!!! Was about to text Mel telling her Seasunz was doing good & she walks right up to me lol. All in all there was a pretty good TA turnout but for those that didn't come, you missed out for real.

Then Edgar got on & began to tear that shit up...I said I was only gonna stay till like 3...LMAO yeah right I stayed till the end of Edgar's set.

Mel, Anthony & me left at the same time right when he ended! I'm so glad I went, I had a great time! The set was full of ID's & dancey ass tracks...goddamn! I danced his entire set, I just couldn't sit down!

I think he played the Signum remix of Can't Sleep though?

Great pics...Looks like a great turnout in people.

if there's one downer about this night, it's the fact that not too many people showed up. Edgar threw down a classic fucking set. I can't believe it was that empty!!! One of my friends was celebrating his birthday so I partied it up hard over there with them(pssss..i was dancing hip-hop too, enough said). But, I hardly missed Edgar's set. I was there pretty much throughout the night. Manny, as soon as I walked in, I saw your lights, and was immediately overjoyed dude. Great seeing you again. Nelson, I didn't see you at Space afterhours bitch!? I was able to i.d alot of tracks cause like Mel said he played alot of stuff that's good at the moment. Edgar also threw down

I fucking love this song!!!! "We have ventured the unknown, let's start livinnnnnnngggggggggggggg!!!!!" haha i think that's what she says. Anyways, great seeing the people i did. I didn't know it was going to be so damn empty. Kinda gets me pissed cause those other rooms had lots of people. Space afterhours as always rocked! Beautiful women and music that made you dance. Edgar was also up in the terrace hehehe.

i'm still praying for a Monthly with Edgar!!!!!!

Cuz Metro has been dead for a bit. I wonder if bringing Edgar helped quite a bit. I hadn't been there since WMC for B+J

I have always said metro sucks as a venue...But people are like naw its good and blah blah blah...

i think bringing edgar in, is def the way to bring trance back in to metropolis. he's the man. he is talent and skill. awhile ago, they were bringing in trance on a regular basis...a la blank & jones and cosmic gate. saddened we couldn't go b/c ed's surgery but we do hope that this rumor about EV having a reg gig there is tru. they should try to pull in some more big guns like rank1, marco v, scot project, etc. it's no doubt that edgar brang it last nite b/c that is a given.

Metro is HUGE! If the part with the bar would be closed off you would have seen it wasn't as empty as you are making it sound. Plus half the ppl were straight up e-tards sitting down 90% of the time and or laying down on the floor/box.

That main room is too big and if they get the swing into things.. such as having edgar monthly.. then maybe it'll bring more people.

Edgar on a Friday night would be better so they don't compete with Space.

Just my 2 cents

oh and props to Seasunz who has changed his style dramatically. Gotta give it up to him for being a great opener. Nic Chagall Monday Bar and I think WOW- Killaaaaaah no idea what mix though oh and he too played Walk Down :x

well i'm not sure how normal Saturday's are over there at Metro, but I mean, there definitely could've been more people. And yeah I hear Seasunz is doing good now. He was good for Armin's opener. Mel did you happen to look in back of you?? Nary a soul.

you have to understand this club has been out of the loop also after WMC with the shooting going on during Memorial Weekend.

It's just starting to get back into things.. and I hope it goes back to the way it was before when it first opened.

TRANCE!

If the promoters read the forums they should consider it, cuz Trance crowds are always better than the hip hop crowd and we have great locals that could tear that place up!!

Bottom line is that whether the club was half-empty or worse, Edgar threw it down hard and nasty as hell just like if he was playing a main room set at Space in 2000. No fluff or BS whatsoever from Mr. V. That is why you have to respect him, he always delivers for his fans, whether it's 150 or 1500 of them.

While I missed Seasunz's set, it is good to hear he did well also. In my experience a good & energetic opening set usually leads to the headliner throwing it down better.

And that L-shaped mainroom @ Metro is huge, and would take a lot of people to fill it up. I rarely have been there, but can say the nights that Blank & Jones and Cosmic Gate played @ Metro last year were packed. So trance can succeed there, and the club's size and sound system are good. Being that Metro has been off the map (unless you are a member of the National Rifle Association) and promotions for this night were limited (I think many people did not even know that Edgar was there), future trance events at Metro with Edgar and company could easily be more successful as long as word gets out and the club seriously promotes the events.

problem with that place is its too big so it never feels like a good crowd

If you think the club is bad, check out the bathrooms. Still, the 2 times I've been there, the music has been Top Notch!
