It makes sense though. I was going to post this in Theresa's thread but, since this is the thread claiming that we need war, I'm going to post it here.

I don't what kind of utopic mind claimed that there should be world peace. Certainly, that's what most of us would want (I want peace as much as the next person), but eternal peace is not an option.

First because eternal peace would mean stagnation - there, at some time, has to be a revolution, a war, an uprising of some sort. War, unfortunately, is a harsh way of changing things. No matter how sad it is, such drastic measure will happen under certain circunstances, and might be a way of putting an end to what wasn't supposed to last.

Think of how painful it would be if there was no WWII and Nazi Germany had not fallen. We would probably never see the democracy Germany's become. And this is just one out of many examples.

DAMN STRAIGHT!

We've gone through World War II a dozen times over. By land, air AND sea. Developers need some new material!

It's about time we enter space and start some intergalactic wars so Blizzard can give us a Starcraft 2 already!

But yeah... Lira is right. Progress and growth are two oft-overlooked results after a true war comes to an end. Who benefits from this?

Not all, of course. But there's always a clearcut winner and loser, it seems.
