Yeah, but get My Ears and a Keyboard v1.5. My Ears and a Keyboard v1.5a is kinda buggy.

heheh
im just looking for a quick way to key my songs, ive got some spare time and no money to go out and get a keyboard

Posted by Zild on Jul-19-2006 18:28:

rapidshare comes with a little keyboard you can play with your mouse and it is free

Posted by DOOMBOT on Jul-19-2006 19:30:

I just never see myself doing this. I'd rather use my ears, not to mention I like the sudden change in tracks.

Mixed In Key...costs 58 USD though

you could probably pick up a cheap portable keyboard that would do the trick.

i use MixMeister Pro to key out my tracks, unless i'm at home, in which case i'll just use my keyboard.

Great job answering the question...

I use Rapid Evolution and confirm the hey with the virtual piano included. A little guidance never hurts AND its free.

Sorry, I figured if I contributed I'd atleast still touch part of the topic.

Im not saying I am against it at all, and if I knew I would have told him what software to use. Hey, atleast I kept it bumped to the top.

Posted by pkcRAISTLIN on Jul-20-2006 08:52:

im against it. whats the point of using key software that isnt 100% (or close to it) accurate? if you dont have the ability to do it yourself then youre not gonna be able to tell if the software is wrong, and if you can tell why not do it yourself to begin with? i love keying tracks and seeing how the notes work together

Or the guy could download rapidshare for free and use the built in keyboard.

You know most DJs who think they key by ear are tonedeaf right? With the emphasis on THINK everyone needs reference especially someone who isn't classically trained in music theory.

But don't feel too bad Cahill is a hell of a footballer!

im not againt the programs themselves, i just question people's reliance on them for reasons already stated. and no, im definitely not tonedeaf, my keying is pretty accurate and i really dont think anyone needs any sort of training to key anything, just an ear for pitch- anyone that can sing in tune shouldnt have any problem keying by ear

haha! thanks, but as a massive football fan i had already picked a team well before australia made the world cup. go england!

Posted by Zild on Jul-20-2006 09:24:

True but you do use a keyboard or something right? I mean know a lot of DJs who think oh yea my track selection is in key just because I say so.

And yeah Go England! I can't agree with you there as I hate Rooney but those Aussies really showed everyone what they were made of and Cahill is sick dangerous from 35 yards.

And like you said all it takes is an ear for pitch but it takes playing music for awhile to develop your ear.

yeah, i hate rooney too (im a liverpool fan you see, so anything Man U can chew balls) but the aussies definitely put in one fine display and was awesome to watch them play.

OK cool we're definitely on the same page. The reason I reccomended rapidshare it because it automatically keys the tracks for you but at the same time it also has a little keyboard you can play along with using your mouse to make sure the key is correct or to crosscheck it. That way the guy can learn about keys whilst having a sort of crutch to check his results against.

And I'm a huge fan of Liverpool myself. I just love Gerrard well from England I love Gerrand, Terry, and Lampard, but I guess that is standard, but form Liverpool I love Xabi Alonso. Got that spanish blood ya know.

^^ sounds like we're on the same damn page to me!

With you guys on the tone deaf thing. So many DJs say that, you should just be able to hear if it works or not crap. The truth is that yes you can hear if it works or not but you have to have some point of reference in the first place.
Cracks me up everytime I hear that and then hear the DJing.

My own pitch recognition is at a level where I don't actually need to key using an instrument but I still do anyway just to make sure.

Software has still not cracked the art of keying a track. Just not reliable enough no matter what the makers say. Definately not worth paying for.

Cheers

Of course I was exaggerating with the tonedeaf thing Nem, you know just trying to make a point. I did learn from you as much as anyone wants to admit it or not when I joined these forums I couldn't spin my way out of a paper bag but I followed what you said and I've come a long way from then, for which I am very thankful.

And mate (PC that is) I wish I had friends in the states that loved soccer as much as you do. Everyone over her just likes thing only if there is blood and violence involved like American football. Whereas soccer (true football) is a beautiful game American football is dirty and nasty I know I've played it my whole life. In Texas football is religion.

Thank you for the kind words.

Hey don't worry dude, I was on your side man he he he... Tone deaf DJs are in full abundance.

The intersting thing about your next statement is that Nem has actually always hated Soccer but loves and used to play Football. As well as being a DJ I used to be really into cracking heads with other maniacs like myself. Got a bit too old for that now though but sport is good.
Nem used to be a middle Linebacker. Although mainly in the European league appart from two seasons in College in the US as exchange student.
I know, I have done a lot of things but why do things by halves.

Cheers
Nem

Hell yea dude I used to play defensive tackle so I'd be soaking up those blocks for the linebackers so they can get the stops. But I love true football even more the flow is just beautiful.
