Self-Esteem Nukes
When something happens or is said to someone that nukes their self-esteem. Here is a classic I overheard once
Guy: Ya i'm working part-time as a waiter
Girl: I thought waiters were supposed to be attractive?
(said without an ounce of malice, just matter of fact)
Guy: I love you.
Girl: I know ... I heard you the first time.
^ heh Ive pulled that one before. it was more of a friendly "I love you" to which I replied "I know".
anyway nothing that really bothered be since it was all in good fun but its the closest thing I think of:
girl: youre fat
(I actually wasnt)
me: so are you.
(she wasnt)
girl: I know eh!

Bush boosts his self esteem by nuking other countries.

i ain't a yank so i take no offense in bush bashing.
Methinks Omega is easily amused this morning!
hangover over sake
crap..i'm really happy today.
i'd been working on some experiments the whole of summer and finally i got them working yesterday evening and as a result i get to complete my thesis, defend and graduate with an M.S degree in less than a month! no more brainy work left. write write write..2 years worth of struggle over
tat is teh true reason
no sake
Rather than having an absolute formula (i.e. a given sentence that would nuke anyone's self-esteem), people are usually proud/insecure of different things. Here's something that devastated a friend of mine:
His girlfriend: I want to have a baby
Him: We can't, we need a job in order to raise a kid, and I want to finish my studies first (neither of them had a job, both of them were graduate students)
His girlfriend: You know, I wish I were with an older man, who could take care of me and my needs.
Him: ...?!
He had always felt he wasn't good enough to do things, so this was a slap on the face for him (whereas in my case, I'd be just "tough luck, go find a job instead of leeching others"). The most cruel part is that the bitchful slag actually cheated on him with an older guy... I don't think he knows though.
Naturally, in my case, there are other things that would've hurt me.
why do ugly ppl act shocked and offended when someone tells them that they're ugly? its not like its a secret you have to let us in on, we have eyes you know. ![]()
