REVIEW
I don't think there's a need to make a review thread...so here we go:
Interesting night. Managed to get in around 12 am and was surprised to see the amount of people already on the dancefloor. Definately a weird crowd; mixture of older folk and alot of young blood...some looked underaged too. I know I wasn't the only one who thought so. Some really good looking folk though. WTF was up with all the handing out of condoms? Were they expecting people to have sex on the dancefloor? As electrosexual as I am I still wouldn't do that. Started off as a solo night for me; saw a few faces I know and met some others. Was glad my buddy Billy (Billche) decided to show up with cousin. Perfect timing too...a couple of seconds after I made my rounds I finally heard some appealing music. I had no idea who was on at the time (it was 12:30), but I heard the first few beats to Lil Louis - French Kiss and I couldn't help but start laughing. This tune is beyond dirty! As we grooved to the slowdown I looked around to see if any girl was making orgasm faces to go along with the song..lol...no luck, but I looked back and managed to see Billy humping the air haha. Sometime during the night apparently some older, bigger, woman decided to go up on the back stage totally naked. LMAO!!! I was in the washroom at the time unfortunately but from a few sources they say she got up there topless, dropped her pants, AND her undies. Utter ridiculousness! At times, I was a bit uncomfortable with how packed it was, but I did always manage to find enough dancing space. They closed the place up at 4:30...which was way too fucking early! There was still a good amount of people on the dancefloor. Disappointing! I decided to dance my way home after Sonic, because I just didn't get enough of it yet. WE WANT MORE CH00NS!
Now....the sets were very surprising to me. I'm not going to mention who was playing before Mylo...because I didn't care for what I heard. Mylo surpassed my expectations only by a bit. I was 100% commercial electro, but fortunately it wasn't half bad. It was pretty damn good actually. Started off a bit strange but as soon as he started to play those electric melodies I was struck by lightning. He played all the tunes you would expect him to play, and the some. Mixing was decent, but some tunes weren't flowing together. Some memorable tunes heard were:
Dinky - Acid In My Fridge
Bodyrox - Yeah Yeah (D Ramirez Remix)- If he played the Pearn and Bridges Dub version of it like Sander did last year I would have gone mental...not that I didn't to the D Ramirez version. heh.
For Sale - Buy Now - Overplayed I know, but I love this tune. I was tempted to say the Jack's House lyrics along with it.
Masterkraft without the vowels was better than I expected. After Mylo finished I thought everything was going downhill, but it didn't. Can't say much about the mixing, because I was no longer paying attention to the technicalities. Heard some good electro and I was pleased. My mind is a little bit of a blur so I can't remember any more tunes that were played...I know I'm missing one though...I think it was a tune from Misstress Barbara's current album...or I might have heard Fergie - Ken The Men...I'll post a followup if I have to.
Fun times, but too short. Hopefully the next Return To New York party will be significantly longer. This was my first, and I loved it. To whoever made it out, it was great to party with all of you. Was nice to meet your friend Tara, Steve. She's got some dirty moves...and she's really cute.
Like I said...if Cribby makes a roll call, it won't be jinxed
I went to Sonic on Friday night with no expectations...to see Mylo really...
I got a call from Nicole (one of the security pat down girls) at about 11 to tell me that it was a "rocker" crowd...very different from what is normally there.
The place was rocking by midnight...very diverse crowd, in every way!
I enjoyed Mylo and Mstrkrft, but like Cribby, I was shocked when the lights came on at 430 and a packed room was sent home. I understood that after Mstrkrft, the A.D/D boys were going to go on and the party would go until 6...so that was a little disapponting.
Observations:
1. It took a non Sonic event to fill the Sonic club...have not seen it like that for several weeks.
(is there a lesson about marketing and music appeal for the club management?)
2. Went we left, Mstrkrft's tour us was parked on the side street, there was a huge Trojan condom add on the bus. They obviously sponsor his tour, hence the condoms being handed out in the club.
(Cribby...did you get to use the condom outside the club?)

Mylo was crazy. Awesome, dirty beats. More than I expected. Great night altogether. It took a little time to get going, but once they shifted gears, it stayed at high energy. Different crowd, very young, except for the strip show (Old lady that never should have taken her clothes off) Yuk, Sketchbag. Glad we made it out. See you all tonight.

fun night, odd, but fun. the music was great, except that rock track that seemed so out of place in the middle of mylo's set.
highlight of the night was laughing my ass off at the naked 60 year old lady. what the hell was she thinking
