A Proper Trance Mix For The Modern Era
August 2006 Update
Its finally here! In case you dont remember I asked you guys for your help on a proper trance mix I was making (see old post below). The reason for this request is because all the sets Ive listened to on this board regarding proper trance are from the 1990s era so naturally one question popped into mind and that was: How would proper trance sound like in todays era? The answer is in the concept set below for which Ive limited myself to post-2000 era trance to keep my idea relevant and the set contemporary. Personally I feel that the music here is very unique in the sense that each track exudes originality and that this music can be listened to 10 years from now without sounding so dated, in other words, timeless. Hopefully you guys share the same passion as I do after listening to this set and if theres anything Ive learned through this whole process is that the genre itself has changed, but its roots live on through psychedelic and acid trance. Overall Id like to thank everyone who posted their suggestions and recommendations.

1) The Auranaut - Yo-Yo
2) Vibrasphere - Manzanilla (Jaia Remix)

July 2006 - Original Thread
I'm currently in the works trying to create a modern day proper trance mix and need your help. I have heard only old examples of what proper trance is and want to introduce a new breed of music to the genre. Unfortunately looking for such music is proving very difficult. All I have are these 2 tracks:
1)The Auranaut - Yo-Yo [2000] listen
2)Vibrasphere - Manzanilla (Jaia Remix) [2005] listen
Please make some more suggestions and try to keep it post-2000 era otherwise the modern day meaning is lost.
I recommend: Side-A - Hybrid Rise. Wonderful entrancing and melodic tune .
ooohh...ahh your screwed! if your going to play good tunes like yo-yo and manzanilla then most other stuff is a bit weak...
cant particularly think post 2000 and good trance...prog yes...house yes...trance...not so much.
Miika Kuisma - Sonic Kiss
Chakra - Opacity
Vibrasphere - Reservoir (Antix Remix)
pretty much most compilations under 'progress trance' on www.psyshop.com (it has samples) will bring you some gems
James Holden - Horizons
Tilt - Twelve (Orkidea remix)
Michel De Hay - Jetchi
Bedrock - Emerald (Grayarea's Speakeasy remix)
Atrium - Golden (j'ubio remix)
x-cabs - sierra
singo - plexi music
midor - from above [infact just about anything from midor since they dropped the six4eight]
luna spice - deep diving
sensorica - train of thought
vibrasphere - sweet september/sudden comfort
viscid & cj art pres spiral in-groove - soundctuary
antix - blood
few off my head

After listening to samples of every tune on the first page, so far these tracks have made the cut. It doesn't mean I'm going to use them, but there's a high possiblity. I'm just keeping my options open for now:
Mirco De Govia - Voller Sterne (Mirco De Govia Remix)
Son Kite - Jukebox
P.O.T.S. - Eifelgold
Right now I'm currently looking at the 2nd page of suggestions and obviously doing a little searching of my own. Thanks all you people for your continued aid, keep it coming guys.
