Hello! Are U a Christian?

Hi,
I was wondering how many Christians come here. Just out curiousity, how many trancers are christian.
I am

Posted by NY1004 on Mar-05-2002 10:35:

What do you mean with religious? You don't go to a church or something?

Posted by Gekhous on Mar-05-2002 10:49:

Exclamation

praise the lord, im not a christian!!!

Posted by kolkiewolkie on Mar-05-2002 12:16:

me = Christian as well

and I do go to church often.

funny: I was thinking about asking the same thing as well

extra question: does your religion affect your way of looking at trance/the scene?? for example do you keep yourself away from big events 'because there is a lot of bad ass shit in there (what people usually think)' or 'I don't use drugs cos it is bad for my body and it was not made to be ruined by drugs'.

first thing: I DO go to these wicked parties
second : I DONT use drugs, indeed for the reason called above...

Posted by eXos on Mar-05-2002 12:31:

I'm not religious in any way. The only thing I believe in is myself

yep i'm Christian and proud of it. i've kinda strayed a bit from the rave scene because of it, but i'm planning on getting back into it with wintergalactic this month.

anyway,good question. hehe.

Good question!
First: I also go (not that often of most people here, but still).
Second: I DONT use any drugs, I dont even smoke.

I agree with you that a lot of people think that all use drugs and so, but there are a lot of "clean"-trancers (thank god)..

please do not use that term, it implies that i am a "dirty" trancer. you would not like me calling the non drug users pussy arsed or ****** trancer would u? i wouldn't say that, but u can see my point, i hope.

Posted by Az on Mar-05-2002 13:41:

I stopped Believing in god a when I was 11, I sat down for an entire day and thought about it. The next day I got told off for not singing the hymns in assembly

Posted by Linx_da_cat on Mar-05-2002 13:44:

heh well...Az_1, that shouldn't have been like that. personally, many churches and organizations i feel are TOO bent on tradition and don't look ahead. by ahead, i mean what Jesus really wanted for the nations and not just within the church.

IMO everyone who doesn't use any drugs is clean, so that implies that everyone who do use drugs is NOT clean. You can call it dirty yes...

That's the way I see it. It's black or white IMO.

I don't understand people who use drugs on parties: don't they like just the music enough? I can enjoy without drugs or something

Posted by kolkiewolkie on Mar-05-2002 14:31:

hehe... this looks like it is about to become an interesting thread (well it is ofcourse, but now we atleast have some contradiction in it )

btw: I personally don't care too much about the whole druguse: if you wanna fuck your body up: fine with me, like I care (YES, I know, this maybe is a very unchristian thought but this is just me). I, however wont touch the stuff.

btw 2: lynx: I agree with you about the church being too much 'on the traditional side' (some of them atleast)

btw 3: cosmic guy: we have too much in common... it is getting scary LOL

Posted by SYNthSRI on Mar-05-2002 14:34:

nope

am into 'Sriism'

Posted by biznology on Mar-05-2002 14:40:

for someone who celebrates only Christian religions, im pretty anti religion. it has something to do with those that control it. the holidays are fun, or easy, but i think religion goes further than a name or a set of rules...late/

Posted by robbyrob on Mar-05-2002 15:04:

i was thinking and i hope you peeps can help me out. why dont we make a religion having to do with the hole electronic muzik culture. A rave is our church, and muzik is our god..

tell me what ya think..

Posted by Lost on Mar-05-2002 16:42:

yes i am a Christian and "religious". i am also very immersed in the electronica scene being a promoter for a large company out here in LA (we brought out tiesto and ferry ) as well as a dj playing house parties and some clubs. i don't see a clash between Christianity and electronic music. i don't see a problem with Christians going to these events either as long as they don't let themselves get caught up with all of the stuff that goes on there (although it does make me sad being at these events sometimes). i personally don't use drugs, drink, or smoke. i may have the occassional beer or glass of wine with dinner now and again but i really don't get sloshed like i used to. i used to do every drug under the sun (except heroin and pcp), drink like a fish, and smoke (only one or two cigs a day) all the while being a "Christian" although i had sort of walked away from it in the middle of my high school years. but after a couple of years of the hardcore partying lifestyle i just realized that doing all that stuff was getting me nowhere and i found true happiness in Christ. i didn't stop using all that stuff cuz i was told i shouldn't but because i found i didn't need it to make me enjoy life anymore than i already did in Christ. and yeah, that's my story. nice to know others share the faith.

lost

Read This!

Christian - yes but not practising.
My wife is more pious than myself (she's Roman Catholic). She's even part of the World Youth Group that's getting set for Pope for when he comes in the summer here to Toronto <-- pretty cool

When I go to 'raves' (I personally don't see them as such) I'm quite aware of my surroundings and the implications they 'could' have on me. But I go in with attitude of being 'sheilded' <-- does that makes sense? No I don't mean being naive to the ongoings beside me or being on the defensive. Rather, I don't let the surroundings affect me, I affect them! In a postive way of course.
I totally believe in the concept of being a lighthouse to others; I don't remember where I read or heard that but I love the ideology.
That's probably why when I go to events I don't feel intimidated, I know that I'm going for the music and everything else is just an experience that I choose to either discard as irrelivant or keep as something postive...

Posted by Lost on Mar-05-2002 17:40:

hey firestarter. i totally understand what you're talking about with being shielded and being a lighthouse to others. i totally feel the same way.

"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven." - Matthew 5:14-16 may be what you're referring to.

btw, nice tifa sig!! ff7 was one of the best games i've ever played.

Nice to see this thread on here, cause I was tinkin bout it myself, I am a Christian, but havent being goin to church really much lately cause, like Lynx said the church jus trys to b to traditional!! Instead I go to a youth meetin for a few hours each week

Still class to know there is other christians on here

Posted by Fir3start3r on Mar-05-2002 20:18:

It's funny this thread came up becuase just a week ago I was asked by a friend what my thoughts on religion/God/church were.
I told them that I do believe in a higher power but that as far as church goes, I believed that to me, my church isn't a building, rather it's a place in my heart. When I physically talk to people (especially when they're having problems and need an ear to listen) I try and share my light with them to heal their own broken aura.
This light isn't just from me though. We do have our own light to some extent but it must be rechared from somewhere (look up)
Now this may sound really corny to some but I can't explain it any other way...
Works for me though...lol...
Then I recharge with some good Trance tOOns and reflection....

It's good to see some fellow christians here. I always thought that I was one of the few. Also a coincedent (?) that many of us are thinking about this subject. Keep on going!
