Sacramento Music Festival-REVIEW

This party was a disaster from the start,

-parking was a mess! pull up and zero parking attendants showing you where to park

-time slots were ass backwards, timeslots posted were not even close

-kids ODing

-way to big of a venue for that party-most stages had maybe 15-20 people dancing in front of them

-FYI to any promoters NEVER EVER spend your money on BULLSHIT ACTS like DHT and CASCADA, that girl from DHT couldn't even make it through the first round of american idol, she sounded really really bad. thus resulting in a main stage not even a quarter full of people.

-you have to PAY 20$ to get in and out privlages?WTF?

-music completely shut off at 12:00 am??????WTF!!!!????-someone comes on a says music will come back on shortly "don't leave", then 15 mins later someone comes on and says "move you cars or they will get towed" "if you move your cars the music will comeback on"??? THEN 5 mins later "music will be shut off until 9am"???????????????????????WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sounds like SLOPPY work by the promoter, wich is sad because this promoter has had many problems in the past with not paying people and dj's not showing. this will be my last "DUB STAR" party ever, and from the sounds of all the angry people leaving that party I may not be alone. I wonder if "DUB STAR" will be forced to change its name again?

this party had potential with the right promoter too bad

have fun in the 112 degree heat tomarow...

yes i defintely agree, a complete waste of time and money. Some of the talent was talented but most were not, with the few we got to see.

After the kid OD'd, they stopped all music and then said that its not shut down, just no music for awhile. I also got a wierd vibe soon as i entered.

Very unprofessional, the place was a mess, i couldn't tell one entrance line from another, they stages were too close together in my opinion. It sounded like a trainwreck beatmatch around most of the area.

I will give kudos to the breaks dj playing around 10-12. Don't know the name but you rocked it while you could. I just started to get into the music before they stopped it. What is a Sacramento MUSIC Festival without music. Better Luck Next Time

And lastly, the heat of around 90-95 at midnight was a buzz kill Better Luck Next Time

A kid OD damn. How old was she or he? If under-aged they should of made this event 18+. There's reasons why some events are 21+.

Thats horrible, I was gonna go to the festival because I'm stationed basically right next to Marysville but I didnt feel like dealing with the awful heat. Didnt figure they'd get much attendance in the first place.

Can i see a flyer please???

(to make a note of it lol)

Posted by MR STROKE on Jul-24-2006 00:03:

funny thing is, I have heard that party is still going on, with about 50 people in the 114 degree heat, most of the people, vendors and crews doing the stages packed up and left as soon as the music was turned off.
wonder what will happen to all the headliners booked to play today?(if they were even booked in the first place)

wow, sounds like a massive clusterfuck

Posted by SaintPaddy on Jul-24-2006 02:41:

hehehe thats nothing before i left around 1am i saw a few djs screaming at the staff there about them getting paid. I thought fists were gonna be flying but it never got there.

It's a shame that it all went south, especially so early into the event. The event had a lot of potential, being that Sacramento has one of the worst EDM scenes in california. Looks like San Fran is the next stop. Anyone know any worhty events to go to in San Francisco.

wow just wow... well judging by the low attendance, complete failure reported by people who actually showed and sour reputation amongst djs and their agencies now, i don't think we'll be hearing from this promoter any time soon. what a terrible way to go down too...

No not quite. A clustered massivefuck actually sounds interesting and probably would have been a lot more fun....

sucks about the party...jimmy sometimes has 'organizational' issues.

i was going to go but we woke up at 9:30pm in east bay and were so drained from james zabiela Thu night then oakey and deep dish Fri night so we decided it wasn't worth it to get ready and drive up there and get there at midnight or later. we were going to at least go to markus and sandra the next day but we ended up staying in the bay at our friends house recovering and relaxing which was sooooo needed

i'll have to catch markus the next time he comes to sf

Posted by SaintPaddy on Jul-24-2006 19:34:

Yeah I understand those much needed rest days. Besides, if you did show up, you would have been just in time to hear the music stop! I'm not even sure if Markus got to play. The DJ lineups and time slots were all fucked up and very confusing.

the parrty didn't even make it until the second day, aparently by 9am the place was empty.....I heard those basterds will still letting people pay 55$ a ticket after the music got shut off- this "jimmy" guy is one shady shit...

Posted by SaintPaddy on Jul-24-2006 23:10:

Wow! That is pretty shady! I can't believe they were still selling tickets. How does one get away with that! They would have to lie to people. That will be the last time i go anywhere in sac again. And who exactly is this jimmy guy i keep hearing about?

Posted by R!CH on Jul-24-2006 23:20:

yeah sounds pretty shady that the artists would have to get into public shout matches at the event just to get paid on a contractual business deal too i think this hurts the sacramento party scene more than it does the promoter since the whole event was held under the banner of 'sacramento music festival'...

Posted by kingofthenight on Jul-25-2006 00:23:

Was it Dub Star Universal who promoted Sac Music Fest? Well if they did...watch out everybody they are having another event up on LoveFest weekend also. I just found out on groovetickets.

Retarded, that there shows you completely no organization. Parking is SUCH a big deal if not coordinated properly.

-time slots were ass backwards, timeslots posted were not even close

I also think the time slots weren't so great, but i had heard that everything had been pushed back on saturday due to the extreme heat during the day. They had everything start VERY late to let the sun go away.

-kids ODing

I wonder how much it is really kids OD'ing or just fucking dehydration from drinking booze all day in the hot sun and not getting any proper amounts of water. FUCK that day was hot.

It was actually the Cascada DJ that came in. I was hoping that it was actually going to be the dance act. Also, i think that having Cascada and DHT during the DAY like it was actually planned would have been perfect. Because of the heat everything got pushed to the evening by the time everyone was drunk/ high. Having performances during the day would have been awesome cuz you're just relaxing before the mayhem of the evening when you wanted to hear more fast moving beats. They went from hard fast dj's to a performance act. Totally stupid... then again the weather/ heat had a part to play.

-you have to PAY 20$ to get in and out privlages?WTF?

Ok that is highway robbery. Can we smell the desperation?

-music completely shut off at 12:00 am??????WTF!!!!????-someone comes on a says music will come back on shortly "don't leave", then 15 mins later someone comes on and says "move you cars or they will get towed" "if you move your cars the music will comeback on"??? THEN 5 mins later "music will be shut off until 9am"???????????????????????WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What I loved about this was that this was announced to a bunch of drunk/ high people! hahaha.. please go drive your car while you are under the influence. S M A R T!

sounds like SLOPPY work by the promoter, wich is sad because this promoter has had many problems in the past with not paying people and dj's not showing. this will be my last "DUB STAR" party ever, and from the sounds of all the angry people leaving that party I may not be alone. I should hope so. His name is tarnished. I was there on Saturday and after all the bullshit that evening I just left because I didn't want to wait around to see if they would actually continue on Sunday. What happened on the Sunday? Did they turn on the music and keep going?

this party had potential with the right promoter too bad

have fun in the 112 degree heat tomarow...
