High School

This is a thread only for people who have left high school.

I was out at a mates place last night and got home and my parents had dug out and were watching my old year 12 video (like a video registration of the year with highlights from all the events and interviews with each student etc that was given to each year 12) so I sat and watched it with them.

Its been 5 years since I left and had hardly thought about a stack of the people, but it was nice to be reminded.

So this got me thinking, did you enjoy school when you were there, and now that you have finished do you look back with positive thoughts or negative?
I saw a part from the valedictory dinner and was reminded of all the emotions I felt that night. Pleased to be leaving school but sad at the same time. And also seeing the faces of friends who I haven't seen since reminded me of all the good times we had while at school, with no worries and everything was simpler.

Being reminded of the athletics carnival, where i made the bold prediction on camera that I'd throw the javelin 55metres, so here I am talking myself up beforehand, then the editors have put inspirational music (eye of the tiger type stuff), changed the video to black and white and done the slo-mo during my runup, only for me to launch it maybe 10 metres and foul. Was pretty funny actually. I had completely forgotten that I'd even done that .

Looking back I definitely miss the people and all the things that happened during the year, its funny how you look back and realise just how good times were, even if you didn't fully realise when you were there.

I just graduated from High School. (Last Year)

When i look back at High School, i realize how easy i had it. Not a fucking care in the world.

Not anymore.

Things have changed....

I learned alot from high school but nothing in the classrooms. When I left I felt more like a prisoner being sent out on conditional liberation after having served a 5 year sentence.

I hate it more as time goes on and I realize how poorly it prepared me for anything. It wasted valuable years which should have been character defining yet our system is so pussy it left a group of ill defined immature, and wildly unprepared youths going out into a world full of College Graduates from when school was tough.

Terrible just terrible. The people were shit too

i hated high school with a passion. i hated group projects, i hated working with the jocks and cheerleaders and i hated that you were FORCED to be a part of the social ladder so that at LEAST you wouldn't walk around being called a fhaggot all day.
My junior year i changed schools and was finally given the opportunity to self-study from home so i didn't have to deal with the great american high school experience and graduated early. I told my couneslor i didn't want to go to the graduation but my parents forced me because it's not "normal" not to go.

I went to 2 High Schools. The first one was non-denominational and I made loads of friends but the education there was shit (despite them saying they were the best in town). The second one was Catholic. They weren't non-denominational, I'm not religious and I didn't bond with many people there, but I did better with my studies. I got OK grades and skipped a year to go to college early. Overall, I can't complain.

i graduated from high school 9 years ago. i remember high school being pretty easy. i didn't do much outside of school besides swim practice. i was really naive like i lived inside a little bubble and i had no idea what was going on in the world around me. i hardly ever broke any rules or did anything my parents wouldn't approve of. i remember having good times with the friends i had at the time but it was all really innocent fun. i'm sure there was more to it but i can't remember very clearly what it was like anymore.

hey butterfly, haven't seen you round in a while!!

high school was pretty cracked out and blurry for me. not really a good or bad experience. teaches you what you need to know about life, that if you're vicious to your peers and suck off higher ups you'll make it far in this world.

high school was fun...At least the 2 last years i didnt have many friends in my class but i remenber how me and my lil group were making inside jokes and were having endless debates

i have good memories of teachers we used to make fun of and what i miss with high school is the diversity of subjects we had ...now being in uni and studying law kinda reducted my field of learning but fortunately i still can read

Most people can get by without studying in HS. It really isn't that tough. It will fuck you over when you hit college and you actually have to start from the ground up with study habits. You are the idiot for not completing HS.

I agreed 100%. I went to a Catholic college prepatory school. What did it do? Not a damn thing. The teachers (most of them) were in their first few years of teaching and didnt know wtf they were doing, or know how to get the information across to a student body.

+1

happend to me, and i think its the sole reason it has taken me 6 years of school to finish my engineering degree

Highschool was hell for me. It has been 3 years since I've left, and I would never go back to that time... not in a million years.

I am much much much happier now

Posted by idoru on Jul-24-2006 21:34:

I loved HS. I was in the group of friends that was friends with every clique, so I knew most of the people. Even the challenging classes were easy. I still hang out with most of the people I knew, so not having HS around isn't much of a loss at all.

Good times.

overall a decent time. coulda been worse - coulda been better.

college > high school fur sure

Been out 5 years now. It was cool, I guess. I had my group of friends and we had fun being young and stupid. The schoolwork doesnt prepare you for anything in real life. You dont have to study, which totally fucks you for college where you DO have to study.

Thinking about all the stuff we thought was important back then is funny, thinking that the world would end if something didnt happen lol. I only still talk to a few people from high school but Im looking forward to my 10 year reunion.

i loved highschool. Basically because my school was elementary, middle school and highschool alltogether, so you had fun with the whole class that wasn't more than 90 people. I always had tons of friends and really good times since kindergarden. My friends from highschool are still really close friends and will rpobably be my lifetime friends.

The ones in college not so much, mainly just people i'll hang out with till i leave Costa Banana.
