How do you do it?

I am originally from a small town in the states called Fort Payne, Alabama. I like to think im fairly lucky because i came upon music and computers around the same time when the internet was small. I remember when mp3's at 2mb's were absolutely huge. And i also remember hearing my first few electronic songs by downloading mp3's. Leftfield sticks out in my mind for some reason, but I can't honestly say when it was that i started listening to electronic music. I would guess it was around 1998. I had no idea there were different genres within "techno" back then. I just called it all techno like most people.

The state of Alabama has a very small electronica scene. I've introduced my favorite genre to many of my friends and to this day i don't think any of them can appreciate it more than I. I don't think anyone in the world can appreciate it more than i do. I moved to Birmingham, alabama for college and was hoping the music scene would be flourishing. But it wasn't. There were a few small events, mostly DnB, which i settled for.

When i left Birmingham, i realized that im probably never going to live in a place that loves the music as much as i do. I joined the military to help pay for college and they asked where i wanted to be stationed so i immediately put every european base that i could. Based on teh fact that i knew thats where the music was. I didn't get what i wanted though. Right now i'm stationed in Japan, near tokyo. I havn't heard much about the electronic scene over here but i know its here. I just have to find it.

I just want to know, how do all of you from small towns do it? I've done this for years trying to get to a place that was more for music than anythign, but it seems like i can't get there. The only place i can listen to the music is from my computer. It's rare that i can go to a club and listen to a dj play the music for my enjoyment. I'm still young, but im afraid i'm going to end up where i don't want to be... thats where the music isn't at.

Can't say much about living in the middle of nowhere and having little to no access to music.

But there is always the option of being the hardcore partier who has plenty of clubbing miles on your car going to other cities to see shows and stuff but yeah it's annoying. I just looked at a map and Atlanta isn't that far from Fort Payne!
I hope you made it out there a couple times! It would be a shame if you hadn't.

In regards to Tokyo there is so much going on there! If you don't make it out to a party in the next weeks I'll personaly fly over there and slap you

write down the name Yoji Biomehanika on a piece of paper. Show the name to people around you. you will be directed to the nearest club where he's played
