Docks lose Liquor Licence
Don't have a source unfortunately, but i heard this on the news. all i have to say is
FUCK YOU ISLANDERS
don't live across from the downtown of the largest city in Canada if you can't take the noise!

I was furiously searching on googe looking for an article
DAMN IT I SHOULD HAVE JUST POSTED THE THREAD
this sucks big time.
I loved the 19+ area at destiny.
the whiners win again...
and toronto thinks its a world class city? hahahahaahahahah
The news reports are saying that this could alter the waterfront's redevelopment plans entirely. I love this little group of 90 year old whiners on the island that seem to control most of the city agenda these days. Somebody needs to finish the expropriation job that the province started in the 1960s that gave us the toronto island parks that we have today.
i wouldn't be surprised if the cops took it away because the place has turned into a complete shitshow on sundays.

Bullshit. Bullshit. Bullshit.
Fuck you Toronto Islanders.
Toronto needs an outdoor day club for the summer.
What a disgrace...
That sucks. I love chilling there on Sundays with everyone and watching the sketchbags.

Is this for sure? Because i was planning to go there Saturday night and i'll be needing to cancel my plans if that's the case.
That is really too bad.
Is there any chance for an appeal?
i dont think anyone cares about liquor there on sundays
brutal
what's next? honestly.
I thought I was readng about this last year... or the beginning of this year? Must have been something else.
What the fuck else is next? No dancing?....sttupid!

AGCO DECISION PRESS RELEASE ISSUED BY THE DOCKS SOLICITOR: NICK MACOS JULY 24, 2006 Today after a delay of nine months, the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario determined that the business the Docks conducts is not in the public interest having regard to the needs and wishes of the residents of the City of Toronto . In coming to this decision the AGCO took a narrow view of the public interest as being represented by the needs and wishes of the Toronto Islands residential community. There was no finding of misconduct by the Docks, rather that it is well managed. The Docks takes a broader view of its role in the community as is apparent by the considerable number of City residents, tourists and corporations that have enjoyed what the Docks has to offer over the past 11 years. We encourage those who support and enjoy the Docks to make their views known to Mayor Miller and their councillors. This is more than a local issue. The Docks believes that actions of the City and the AGCO serve a very small interest group. The AGCO decision is the direct result of the actions of only Councillors McConnell and Fletcher. It is this narrow view that now hinders development on the Waterfront. The Docks will be appealing and seeking a stay of the decision of the AGCO to permit it to stay open until the appeal. It will remain open until the Courts make a decision on the appeal. If unsuccessful then over 350 employees will be out of work. We believe that the actions of the City and the AGCO will detrimentally impact the waterfront. Is this in the public interest? |

And the city wonders why tourists dont come anymore.
I wonder why when they keep shutting down all the venues that tourists use. Combine that with panhandlers and parking rates that have gone up exponentially in the last 5 years and you have your answer.
Too bad most people cant see the forest for the trees.

What a disgrace!!
How do they expect to keep businesses alive with that shit??
I was hoping to go to one of their day-time party things I have heard about, when I come up, but now I have second thoughts.
Sad, cuz its a great place with a great view.

this just falls in line with the same thinking of all the other bans out there.
From smoking, to pesticides, to pitbulls... the government is telling you how to live based on complaints from others.
So next time you complain or agree with a ban, think about it rom the other point of view. Because every ban is also somebody's "docks"
Ahhhh good times in Toronto, eh guys?
Eh?
