Monopoly goes plastic.

| Mayfair? Put It On The Card Updated: 17:06, Monday July 24, 2006 Monopoly board game players can now pay for properties with debit cards. Game makers Parker have phased out the standard multi-coloured cash in a new version. Players will instead use a Visa mock debit card to keep track of how much they win or lose. It is inserted into an electronic machine where the banker taps in cardholders' earnings and payments. Parker said replacing of cash with plastic showed the game was moving with the times. Spokesman Chris Weatherhead said: "The new electronic Monopoly reflects the changing nature of society and the advancement of technology." The new version follows a YouGov survey of 2,056 adults which showed 70% used cash less often than they did a decade ago. It is part of an international deal between Parker and finance giant Visa, which designed the mock debit card and its electronic machine. Monopoly Here and Now Electronic Banking costs around 24.99, compared to 12.99 for the standard "cash" version. |

I really hate Monopoly, it's all about luck ,it tooks about 2-3 hours to end a game and the banker always cheats (
)
Seriously , there are so many unknown board games better than this one...
Massive nay.
Monopoly uses money. Always has, always will. Debit cards are stupid for that. Takes all the fun out of it
And BTW The Amazing Labyrinth is the best board game there is.
Or maybe Market Day for the days when strategy is overcome by tiredness.
Or Downfall. The only game where you think you're winning but you realise that turning the 5th wheel makes your opponent win
A big chunk of cash feels so much better than a plastic card.

Worst board game update idea evar.
I say yay.
Electronic cards are way easier to handle compared to paper money, and I do use debit cards for most purchases nowadays, so it feels more real.
no whey jose
theres nothing like paying a debt with the shittiest notes possible just to get rid of them and annoy the other player.
60th Anniversary Monopoly = best ever.
btw: which piece does everyone use? I'm partial to the battleship.
Super nay, how will we be able to cheat and steal $500's from the banker?
