Arrow -The Ever Popular Air Pad.

I have a question regarding synthesis. I've been trying forever to achieve the "Air" pad. It's used in alot of atmospheric songs to get that "floating in the sky" feel. I assume it's some saws and squares mixed together with a tad bit of flanger and reeverb. Maybe some white noise could be thrown into the mix. I'm not too sure. Since FL Studio only has the "Air Chorus" pad without any way to edit the notes it plays.

Most have their roots in the Sara1 sample from the original fairlight library. Most S&S synths have some version/interpretation of that. It's not from an analog / VA.

I don't know but the freqs above 8000 hz makes the sound sound airy and heavenly.

So, take a sound, and HighPass at 8000 (or maybe lower), and boosting above 8000 hz is one way to make an airy pad. Preferably done with choirs.

But I guess you're looking for a particular pad anyway.

You can make it "airy" sounding if you do some proper eqing. Doing a lot of notch filters around the 600-800, 1100-1300, 2400-2700, and leaving the top end should do it. Just mess around with the eq and you'll get a cool little "wahh" effect. Message me on msn Cristian

I sample & resynthesize. Once I have some time I'll make some examples up for you all

Yeah dude! I've always wondered how to get those nice airy pads. Fruity's airy pads aren't exactly pitch friendly. So yeah. Here's a sample of some airy pads to help get things started or in case you don't know what it is.

White and pink noise on top of your saw pad.
