bluetooth cellphone headsets, the coolness, or the gheyness

obviously they are the coolest since i just bought one today, but lets here your thoughts.......

I like mine.

Posted by Sunsnail on Jul-26-2006 19:06:

I still havent gotten used to seeing them

Posted by Yan on Jul-26-2006 19:06:

I have one of these (Motorola H700) since in-ear hurts me.

Boom Mic FTW.

I sync it with my PEBL.

I only put on my headset when I get a phone call in my car. Otherwise, I keep it off and in its compartment.

I think they are retarded.

EVERYONE LOOK I AM SOOOOOOOOO IMPORTANT I MUST HAVE THIS THING IN MY EAR AT ALL TIMES!
THE PRESIDENT MIGHT BE CALLING ME OR SOMETHING .... or maybe the wife might need me to pickup some milk on the way home.

Posted by colonelcrisp on Jul-26-2006 19:10:

i got the HS 850......

i wont wear it all the time, but it is nice to have hands free since i dont have a home phone and use my cell all the time. plus it will be good for driving.

and jdat if the president does callme..... ill be ready....

Posted by EarnYourKeep on Jul-26-2006 19:11:

i need one but i've read some horrible reviews from users who have my phone but have extreme difficulty getting it paired and/or connection issues.

and i'd wear this at home the most, some of us who live in apartments don't have phones in our apartment, nice to leave ur phone on ur desk and walk around while chatting...or taking a dump for that matter.

+1

Meh.

Posted by colonelcrisp on Jul-26-2006 19:12:

its ok to dump while on the phone as long as you dont tell the person your doign it, and leave it up to their imagination when they hear the flush.....

Posted by guster on Jul-26-2006 19:12:

they're great for car use..

i hate walking around campus and seeing somebody approaching me talking. thus, i think they're speaking to me.. yet they're on their damn phone. just irks me.

My opinion of cell phones is mixed.

Ultimately people are concerned with 'Quality of Life', and a first pass examination of cell phones has lead many to conclude that they add to QoL.

I think they are great when you are trying to get a gang together to coordinate things, but many other times I think they are intrusive.

I think a lot of cell phone use is localized as Jdat observes on the need to broadcast the message that you are a 'player' of reality. An extension of look at my car/watch.

But instead "look at how much of a social nexus I am".

P.S. Subey your inbox is full

No, those cellphone headset things are lame. What are you, in Star Trek or some shit? You're not that fucking important, you don't need one of those god damn things on your ear. How fucking hard is it to take your cellphone out of your pocket when someone calls you? It isn't.

Posted by EarnYourKeep on Jul-26-2006 19:21:

how do you know some people aren't that important? What if someone is a stock broker? A laywer? A publicist? Some of us have careers ya know =)

Considering it's illegal to use your phone while driving here in NY, I'd say most people would need one of these (or not, if they don't mind getting tickets). Then again, there are still a lot of older phones out there that don't have BT but they do have a wired solution for them. How would you react to that, placebo? If someone had a wired headset in their ear the entire time?

And yes, kid nyce is right. There are many people in the city, over here, where they're constantly on the phone for business purposes. What if you're a doctor on-call? It's important to be able to answer right away rather than fumbling for your cellphone in your pocket hoping you won't miss it or accidently end the call.

Actually it is difficult for me to pull out my cellphone as it's a smartphone/pda

But I usually pull it out anyhow or I use an earpiece.

Ah Doctors and Stock Brokers! .01% of the population.

Hmm does that coincide with usage?

Modern usage of the cellphone is NOT dervied from telephone use...

it's derived from IM use.

Point taken. I live in a smaller city that is full of white trash and ghetto people, so most people try to look important. I still think they look dumb though. If they made them look less like a lazer gun they wouldn't annoy me as much.

I particularly enjoy watching the blinking of the blue light as they pass by. Makes them seem the tool.

Luckily, my afro blocks out all light so you wouldn't be able to see the blinking even if I were wearing it.

A constant blink tells the user that the headest is properly synced with the device. I don't quite remember if it's a solid blue or a blinking blue that tells you that the device is in use. Hmm!

It changes color depending on the battery life.
