Ringing in my ears

Was at a club playing loud(really f**king loud) metal music last night, noticed my ears were ringing after I left & hearing was down, well, it's been a whole day & my ears are still ringing... my hearing is ok though..

Why do they have to crank the volume so damn loud, when you've had a few drinks you don't notice your standing right in front of a 10 foot tall speaker, I feel ear-raped.

Any idea's where I can get some decent earplugs that would be suitable for clubs?

If it's the first time that's happened, I wouldn't worry too much about it (just take precautions next time). I've had them ringing for 3 days before & had them go back to normal (Damn you, Junkie! haha). I didn't really do anything to get them better. Just gave it time. Hope it works out, & yeah, ear plugs are a good idea.

The ringing is called tinnitus. next time wear earplugs aight?

last year at the street parade i didn't wear protection for my ears, and from that day i've that ring in my ears, permanently.

it's not a big trouble, because during the day the others noises cover this ring, but when i'm in the silence it gives me some fastides.

so, if you don't want problem, wear EVER protections for yours ears

ive got permanent ringing in my ears, from firing cap guns a lot when i was a kid, i barely notice it anymore, but its there.

Always wear earplugs.

It's pretty common... the only reason why people don't cut off their ears is because the ringing is bearable...

Two days later, ears still ringing! argh, hehe, not good.
The ringing isn't as loud as yesterday, But yeah, I hope it goes away completely.. I've learnt my lesson this time, It's only happened to me once before a few years ago, but wasn't this severe.

Sorry to hear that some of you have this permanantly that must be really awfull to deal with.. Thanks for the links for earplugs, I'll be sure to get some for next time.

I've always had a very slight ringing in my ears, kinda a genetic condition in my family, but barely noticable with other sounds, kinda like phillip said. It did get a lot worse for a day or two after the junkie/oakey/armin set I went to last year. if that helps.

Like a dumbass I never wore ear protection when I was younger, and I would always stand next to the speakers. Sometimes it would last for 5 or 6 days until it was completely gone. Now I have it permanently and of course I'm kicking myself for it. Sometimes I wonder if I stopped listening to music for awhile if it would stop, but I don't think I could go that long without listening to music. I can only hear it when I'm in my room and it's silent though. Not that bad, but still kinda dumb. It doesn't seem to affect my hearing either.

Ringing? In my ears? It's more likely than you think.

Well tinnitus is a broad term basically meaning ringing in the ear without any sensory input... but it's not limited to being an "inner ear" problem: this kind of categorisation implies it can't be fixed without surgery or medications. Granted some types of tinnitus are so severe that they need this type of treatment, but tinnitus also arises from loud music, buildup of wax, aspirin, and some antibiotics... etc. Remove these and commonly the tinnitus subsides.

I felt exactly the same when I went to a small punk gig last year. I thought that was me fucked, but all I did was not listen to too much music and remained patient. I've still to get ear plugs though.

thats me spot on. I can live with it how it is, but if it gets any worse it'll become hard to live with.

Sometimes it can affect you in the long run, when you're like alot older.

We don't want any Frankie Wilde situations either.

this problem can arrive also from listening music with earphone at a too high volume. this is an use very popular in young people now, because everyone has an ipod or similar. we should listen the music at 60 % of maximum volume, not upper.

I've also seen people who were surgically made deaf, because the ringing became unbearable

I read white noise can mask that annoying noise of tinnitus.

Has any of you ever tried this?

I've never had really problems with it, except for a couple of hours, after a party, back in my teen years.
