Anyone know a nice place to throw a bday party?

expected number of people is about 40 to 50.

a place where you can dance a little bit .. bar / lounge.

w/ any drink specials?

a place with good music (hip hop is fine) .. and a good mixed crowd.

any help would be appreciated. thanks.

My backyard. I've never thrown a party back there, but it seems like it was built to be the set in a teen house party movie. My actual house sucks though.

In anycase, I am of no help to you. Sorry.

le souk
eugene

maybe blvd if you want more hip hop/reggae: i was there on friday, and although the main area was cheesy, there were some more interesting private spaces in the back.

cool,

thank you.

had my bday gig at strata last yr. the place was nice. but i thought it was too huge. i want all of my friends to stick together and play. haha. i also thought it was nice how they had free drinks (open bar) till 11pm. and we also had a guestlist, so my guests did not have to pay cover.

boulevard? eh.

le souk? love the place. but gets too crowded.

eugene? hmm.

right now, looking at a place called naked lunch.

anyone have their own personal reviews there?

again, thanks.

How pricey or cheap do you want this to be?

2 places come to mind: Table 50 and Happy Ending. Both are very nice and you supply your own DJ's On the cheaper side, you may want to consider Key Bar. This place has a great vibe. On the lower east side. The owner is very cool, and you can spin there

Hope this helps. When is the b-day?

Happy Ending is kind of large for only 40-50 people. Also, barosoap can provide details, but in order to reserve the shower room area there, you have to have to guarantee a certain number of guests.

Oh, and Christina was never given the opportunity to provide her own DJ either time she had a party there. If she had, it would have been a lot cooler.

You have to request bringing in your own dj

Citysearch says that Table 50 is closed, but people were outside of it smoking last Monday night when Christina and I walked by.

I had read somewhere (I think it was in some article around Christmas that also mentioned Pacha) it was turning into a gay bar awhile back, so maybe it has a new name

cool. thanks for the great feedback guys.

it's come down to either naked lunch or happy ending.

happy ending aiint pickin up my phonecall because they are closed. shall connect with them later when they open. good reviews.

in regard to requesting to bring my own dj. idea sounds tempting. who'd pay them tho? the bar? i feel like i'm opening a can of worms by having just asked this question, but thought i'd ask anyway. haha.

bbq-ing in the backyard sounds like a great idea, i just won't be doing that this yr. again, great idea.

I could be wrong, but if I were running the bar and offered to let parties bring their own DJs, I wouldn't pay them. They're providing a service to the party to let them select their own DJ/music, so I'd think they're definitely not paying for it, too.

Get your friends to spin out. They would probably love the opportunity and will do it for free
