FAO: Canadians...mainly from BC

ok so what's the deal with weed and it being somewhat legal in Vancouver? i just found an article about that famous "Cannabis Cafe" being shut down recently.

i think i saw a TV special about that place a long time ago about people going there and smoking all these different types of hydro n stuff and i got the vibe that it's totally cool to smoke weed over there.


so what exactly is the deal? can u have weed on u? if u get pulled over for speeding or something and u have a little bag of weed on u, is it as bad as the U.S.? will they arrest u right there for possession?


also, any other countries with the same attitude about pot, feel free to tell me about it too, i'm curious. obviously in amsterdam, it's legal...but anywhere else in europe?

but law enforcement turns the other cheek to personal marijuana use in this country more times than not.Its simply too expensive and useless to go after people who use marijuana.The rate of people who smoke pot in this country is astronomical.Its not mexican bunk lke you guys have either

I've never been to BC, but in quebec you can smoke pot in front of cops and they won't even blink. They only care if you're a dealer.

I'd be extremely surprised if someone in Canada was arrested for possession of a dime. Or even a half-quarter.

It's still illegal here in Belgium, but you can 'posess' no more then 3 grams (legally). There are a lot of police-checkpoints though

they do bust you around here in saskatchewan, but it's the prairies out here. BC is just very lax about pot for the most part, they're more concerned with drugs like heroin.

A lot of these shops that get closed down reopen the days after

( I know that's happened in the past ).

you have the cops at piknik electronique n sunday doing the rounds..people are smoking huge blunts everywhere, and all they do is smile and bob their heads to the beat.

possesion of under an ounce (un divided) is now pretty much a fine in canada, most of the time if you get caught with a couple grams on you or smoking a joint, they will confiscate it and send you on your way, too much paperwork to write a ticket. cops here are more interested in people with intent to sell rather than the users. you guys should come up to ottawa for national 4:20 day :P

i was in montreal for a competition this spring (GNCTR) and our rental cube van got stolen. so in a very hungover state i grabbed my buddies coat by accident to go to the police station to file a report. as i was reaching into the pocket for a pen i pulled out a baggie with about a quarter of ganj in it. this fell on the floor, i was like fuck, but thankfully the cop just shook his head and i picked it up and shoved it back in the pocket. filled out the paperwork and headed down the street for a beer. now the guy who was with me decided it would be funny to fuck with my friend chewy (whos coat i had grabbed by accident (same make as mine)). So he goes back to the hotel and, totally straight faced, tells chewy that i have been arrested with possestion with intent to sell and im now in jail awaiting arraignment. Now chewy being the conciencious soul he is, decides there is no way im taking the fall for his shit, so he calls his parents, tells them that he is going to turn himself in and starts marching down the street to the cop shop. man when i turned the corner smoking a joint walking towards the hotel and saw his face i almost shit myself..... i couldnt stop laughing all afternoon....

it took you this long to figure it out? Hell we had a law about to go through to decriminalize pot more before our new PM got rid of it.

i don;t know about other places, but here in SC, the cops routinely set traps at gas stations, sending underage kids who look overage, to buy beer/cigarette and then pwning the gas-station manager for selling these products to minors without checking ID

no its not legal here in vancouver.

People smoke just depends if the cop wants to bust you or not.

its all cool.for weed they couldnt give a shit. they may make u step on it or throw it out in front of them but thats it
