i found a brand new Netgear wireless router in my apt as I was cleaning it up. One of my roomies presumably forgot to take it with him when he left. I have a wireless airimba connection. My question is, can i configure the router to make my internet work faster ?

router doesn't have any configuration for increasing the bandwidth of your internet drop. you can configure it such that it routers a bit more precise by assigning ports for specific services, etc, but you aren't going to notice a difference much. You might see a small difference in local transfers from machine to machine if you are sharing drives etc.

just wondering cause router might have better reception as compared to the wireless card in my laptop. Can the router receive wireless signals and also broadcast them ? I was thinking of making the router receive signals from Airimba and transmit that to my laptop. SO I might not have low signal strength problem, which I sometimes do.

I use wi-fi. No cable intenet, no dialup, no landline. i wana use the wireless router to capture the wireless signal and broadcast it to to my card in the laptop, so that I won't have low-signal problems. can i do that ?
