Glastonbury - anyone going?

Glastonbury has been confirmed for 28-30 June. Anyone planning on 3 days and nights of chaos?

Posted by Spad on Mar-06-2002 19:27:

A load of my mates want me to go along, so I might do. Provided:

a) They have a dance tent
b) It doesn't clash with any other big nights (can't remember off hand)

Too soon after the SSS, i'd never be able to gain the funds or the time.

I have exams throughut January, so I miss Homelands, GCSSS, and Glastonbury

Anyone know roughly when GKGG is?

Are there any other dance festivals in Britain apart from those mentioned?

There's always Creamfields on the August Bank Holiday (24th)...

Glastonbury always comes across as an alternative music event even if its got a dance tent there will probably be only a handful of Djs playing that are my cup of tea, my cousins go there every year when its on and their into all that indie stuff. lol

Creamfields lol I know some people who went to Creamfields 2000 and one got their mobile phone snatched out their hands, and acording to them its full of scallies, the reason I keep clear of the event is because people from Birkenhead go there and that for a starters spells trouble, they don't scare me no one scares me, just I'm one of these sorts of people who if they get started on fights back and I don't really fancy a handful of my mates on a mob of 40 skinheads lol, I remember back in rave days there used to be a massive gang from up there and they used to go to most of the rave events and do nothing but cause trouble, a couple of me mates got in a scene with them a few years ago, but mind u they probably wouldn't go and pay 40 quid for a fight.

there was a lot of that going on at the sss last year.. the key is to take speed, cos then if any wanker snatches your phone, you'll be able to run them down within a few seconds!!

What reason is that not to go?

Thousands of phones are stolen every day, wherever you go.

As for fights, they can get pretty funny, espescially when bouncers get overwhelmed.

I don't like the way many raves are too controlled. You can't just go mental and rave away until you drop, you've got these big bulky security guys all over the place and it has a definite closing time.

This is why I keep trying to find an underground event up here (it's difficult though). Underground events have that added freedom that the thing will go on as long as you want, that you can do what you want, and also that added excitement that the place could get busted any minute.

What's wrong with a little danger in your life?

I never knew about the phone nicking at SSS, my phone is a brick a Nokia 5510, hahahah chasing someone on whizz catch them and chat them to death lol.

The thing is Evil Bastard about big events is theres a lot of security but theres around 50,000 people there, the main bulk of their work is left to the pigs, but realise that people go out to have a good time, fighting when going out thats what wankers in Ben Sherman shirts are there for, but what I mean at the festivals I don't see the fun in a small group being set upon by a gang of 50 odd blokes, see you probably haven't met the lot of Scallies at events yet, and for certain I hate groups of people who walk around acting hard and starting on people cos the moment someone tries something like that with me, I'd fucking try my best to kick 10 shades of shit out them, now with cops at an event thats not good, cos they run over theres their story and your story, and knowing my luck I'd end up in a van for the rest of the night. plus I don't like Cream I've met people who go there a lot and to be honest with you they come across as arrogent wankers, but I won't judge the club and most of the people like that but they just come across as it from reading letters from them in Mixmag and from the people I've met who go there a lot. See thats my major reason lol.

If your looking for other events there is Knebworth organised by the ministry of sound people. This was about august time last year, I went and it was very very good. PvD played anawesome set. There might be a love parade this year if the local council of wherever they hold it agrees. But who knows???

Newcastle has a lot of pissheads too, and is probably one of, if not the most violent city in the UK at night time.

But I've been there hundreds of times out on the lash, and I've never been started on. Sure, I've been threatened a few times, but these people are usually pretty easy to deal with.

If you walk round with a dummy in your mouth pointing at a pint of beer as if it's the poison of the devil then yeah, you'll probably get kicked in. Sorry, let me rephrase that, you will get kicked in.

But so long as you don't get in anyone's way, you should be alright.

Scousers are child's play compared to Geordies We consume twice the national average of alcohol

Posted by Ste on Mar-17-2002 18:34:

but what does alcohol consumption have to do with whose "childs play" or not?

Posted by evil_bastard on Mar-17-2002 18:44:

Well, scousers have an incredible knack at nicking stuff from other people's pockets. It's a tradition. But when it comes to drinking and fighting, I'm pretty sure Newcastle is tops in that department.

I've never been to Liverpool, but I've spent more than a few nights out in the notorious Bigg Market, so I think I'm prepared for whatever these scousers can throw at me (or take off me )
