you could also check the last page in the harmonics sticky for my mix which didnt use mixedinkey but my ears, which are much more reliable.

and then read the entire sticky, which will give you everything you need to know about how to mix harmonically. its really quite easy with a bit of practice, its FREE, and dontcha just love figuring out how your music works? it might even give you a sudden hunger for production.

just my 2 cents.

32 songs in 5 mins just sounds stupid.

Listen to it first..

I thought the same, but i have to say it obviously isn't something you want to hear all the time, but the tracks really are fluidly joined together (obviously seeing as ableton was used) But the track selection is spot on.

It's an accomplishment in my eyes to get 32 tracks to work together in such a short space of time. but it's only a once in a while thing which is what i think this is.

just my 2c

it doesn't sound stupid at all, s3nate. You could at least take 5 minutes to listen to the damn thing before saying what you think.

Nice job Shane54, this sounds great harmonic mixing rocks.

hahaha, this is awesome, really, the way he has everything layered ..... that T/L just doesnt work either, i dunno how you'd put sections where he's got like 3-4 "bits" playing at the same time, but it is really really good!!!

That sounded great man.
Good Work

good effort on the mixing...and it's actually pretty damn good job on mixing 32 tracks in 5 minutes...but I can't say I like it too...

and btw...nah, it won't make me buy mixed in key :P

^^

I dont think the mix was made for promotional purposes as far as listening to the mix. Just to show the power of harmonic mixing and what it can do.

still?

Shane has many examples of harmonic mixing on his site. I've listened to at least 30 of his live sets. I asked him to put together a mini mix and we were happy with how it turned out. It's a fun example of harmonic mixing. Pretty cool what Ableton Live and lots of DJ experience can do...

I think he should submit it to Annie Mac. She has 5 minute Mini Mixes on her Radio show. If you haven't heard it, it's on http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/dance/anniemac

I couldn't even hear 15 of the songs that were in the tracklist.

Posted by D Dubya on Aug-04-2006 01:04:

let me say that mix sounded awesome, but a lot of those tracks didnt come through at all in it. still, it was beautifully done

Posted by DOOMBOT on Aug-04-2006 02:49:

Does he mix like this live?

Posted by <tuss> on Aug-04-2006 03:01:

so what does this software actually do?

Posted by Timski on Aug-04-2006 03:28:

Nice work mixing it all semi smooth like that, It's still somewhat tricky even when you have a computer doing it all for you. I didn't mind it. Although its not really my style.

Posted by skot_e on Aug-04-2006 03:32:

I listened to about 2 minutes, and it sounds alright for what it is trying to do, but I just can't stand megamixes. They shit me.

I was referring to this post above:

"ok this is good making by him but it just sounds so total crap. no climaxes or whatever. reminds me of some stupid asot episode i heard once. i hate this kinda thing. mix in key is good but it would be nice to hear a whole track for once."

The guy is talkinga bout wanting to hear the whole track. As I said this mix wasnt made to have all 32 tracks played in full, just show us how powerfull harmonic mixing is.

As far as trying to promote "Mixed in Key" then yes

Harmonic mixing is nice. But I think it is more powerful and meaningful when you do it with your own ears. Having a computer do it for you is not impressive to me. When you play a track and then play another track into it that is in key and flows perfectly by ear, wow thats some impressive shit. But not when a computer tells you that it is. Sorry.

I really dont care.

I key my tracks myself with a keyboard. I dont need computer to do it for me. If someone finds it easier to use a PC then great. But we all know that computer makes mistakes, thats why I use my ear. Its not forensic science to key a song.

God damn there are so many haters in here it's not funny. This was really well put together... the set programming is admirable and it really does accomplish showing the potential seemlessness of harmonic transitions. Awesome.

because it is nothing but shameless advertising for a profit-making enterprise. there are other TAs on here that have been pioneering FREE key detection software (that is more accurate) way longer than nennon and his spam.

Ableton aint telling you the key, you still need to figure out that yourself by ear.

It isn't Ableton that is figuring out the key but the software that the original poster is trying to sell that figures out the key.
