[OFFICIAL] 2006 FIBA World Championships Thread

15 more days to go!

sucks I'll barely be watching any of the games live since it will be in Japan

I'd have to say the US has to be the favorites since their roster is stacked plus having a team first coach doesn't hurt in Coach K

I'm loving Lebron acting like he actually CARES...

the Arenas, James, DWade trio alone has to make them overwhelming favorites.... they're playing excellent defense tonite....

they're young, but actually seem to have good chemistry so far...

As long as they have Bruce Bowen on thier team, they will. Bruce is da man!

i heard Bruce Bowen is going to teach his defensive mechanism art skills in multiple languages soon.

but i really like a lineup of areans, wade, and lebron on the floor at the same time. areans can play the offense more, and wade and lebron can setup areans easily with good swipes and setting up the defense properly to get an easy offensive score.

Maybe he should teach Mike D'andoni some, because his team really needs it!

Spain has the 2nd strongest interior game of the tournament: 1st, USA, for sure.

And the problem will be if we play against the americans, because we cannot make 20 3-pointers in a game like Italy or Lithuania. That scenario happened in Athens 2004: we won every game (including Argentina), but we took USA in the bracket, and we were eliminated.

If Spain doesn't have to play against USA until the final, we can take a medal easily.

is it on US TV??

scratch Amare from the USA roster. May be better for him, because he needs to heal the knee.

as for Yao and China, Yao is still on the borderline if he competes depending on this foot.

US barely beat Brazil 90-86

Doesn't seem like that Carmelo's injury is that serious

lets go serbia! we have a young team but we're just as deadly as ever.

So USA vs. Lithuania tomorrow (well for me it's tomorrow, dunno bout your time zone ) And I disagree about Spain being second strongest, if we'll have to play against you, we're gonna beat you just like in european championship back in 2003, huh, but I'm not saying lithuania is second strongest, but I want to believe, but it's gonna be really hard, we won't have couple of our leaders. Most important we won't have Jasikevicius, we don't have a PG. :]
But as always we're gonna surprise everyone, everytime when people are saying that we're not gonna win (just like this time) we win...and vice-a-versa. :]]]

SCG lost to Nigeria, 75:82.

But they're building a new team for the future, which is very good. So, It has to take time, and they're very young aswell.

Posted by bananas on Aug-19-2006 12:29:

Turkey - Lithuania
76:74

FUCK TURKEY!

Posted by Kapedano on Aug-20-2006 05:11:

hell yeah, USA won! Im biased kind of though, since bowen is out of the team now..and he was my only Spurs , but i still gotta support team USA. Also go Argentina!!!

We lost today aswell, this time to France 61:65.

A couple of players who made a good job was Bojan Popovic (Although he missed important free throws) but still, he did block a lot of shots, Darko Milicic and Igor Rakocevic were good aswell, But they're almost always good, at least Igor is.. The rest was dull besides Askrbic who played very good in the first half of the game.

But I wasn't expecting very much from these guys, they're still young and inexperienced. This is a lot better than the Euro 2005 last year in Belgrade, where our "starplayers" started fighting eachother in the locker room.
