prosper.com

For the investing types, check out prosper.com. There was a nice write-up in the times I think last weekend about it and I finally got around to signing up. Basically you lend out money to people (usually in small amounts like a couple hundred) and see very attractive returns. Yes, I see the risk in it, but Im more confident in this site than in the markets right now, so I might put in 2k in there, spreading it out of course. Have a look and if anybody knows about credit, in depth, I could use some info as Im trying to study up on it before I put anything in.

Wait, Andy, you happen to live in Glencoe right? Isn't that like a millionaire neighborhood? Jesus man you are rich it's why you throw money here and there and you don't care(well care isn't a right word).

Lucky bitch

Would you like to give me some money just out of charity? It's tax-deductible seriously why can't shakka get that you know?

How is it tax-deductible? Why do you think I have so much money? Why does it matter?

p.s. I just got a big fat raise.

What are you saying about the site? That its junk? Frankly, the markets don't seem, for at least the moment to be heading in any clear direction, so it would probably not be the best place to invest in. Although I have been thinking about holding an Asian markets etf long term, 3-5 years. At the bank Im "only" going to get a 5.6-5.8% return (as of last week). Prosper would seem to be a more attractive solution, and with spreading your money out in it, not giving all your investment to one guy, but splitting it up into fractions to 40 or so different borrowers you are assuring that you will more than likely see a better return than sticking it in the bank.
