Sick mixer, sick price!

I have the same one! Bought mine for $280US from a member on TA... Mint condition as well, but the face plate got a bit banged up in transport, so I bought a new face plate

Good luck with the sale!

Yea i totally agree. In that price range, this mixer kicks a lot of other brands out of the water. The kills are clean and u could tell it's a well built unit.

Iv always been a diehard Pioneer fan but i gotta give it to Vestax, those eq kill are really handy sometimes.

I'd only get the new Pioneer djm 800. I have used the djm 500, and it is definitly fun for home use, but i heard a lot of negative reviews (from friends and online) about the sound quality and a few other stuff.

But, the djm-800

Posted by Piett on Aug-06-2006 16:29:

I have the 600 and iv had nothing but good results with it, but yeah, the sound quality is not the best but thats because there is a big designe flaw in it. All the audio must pass through the EFX unit wich deminishes the sound quality quite a bit.
I love my 600 but im using solely a digital platform, so the only weak link is my mixer, everytrhing else in my chain is all digital.
The next mixer i get is 100% gonna be the Xone 3D.
Built in soundcard, tempo bendable midi clock, midi assignable faders/rotary pots/scrub wheels.

Once you turn into the xone, you'll honestly pitch that Allen & Heath > any other plastic toy!

It'll be a promising investment, and I know you're getting better and better with filters so I'm sure it'll pay off too.

I remember shopping for my mixer early last year... and as much as there are aspects of the djm500 that I'd love to have on my mixer.. I couldn't believe it still hadn't come down in price much over the years and was going for more than $500 than the Xone62.. so it was almost a no brainer for me!

Yes, i definitly see how filters help if you wanna improve ur mixing skills. I'd love to have the addictional effects that the djm500 or the djm800 have, but the djm500/600 is a bit outdated the the djm800 is a bit too overpriced.

The Xone 62 will definitly be a fun upgrade!

Posted by Skipper on Aug-06-2006 19:41:

Either A&H need to have an fx unit built in, or pioneer needs to fix its quality...neither mixer is worth the price tag with these things lacking IMO.

Posted by Kate Manus on Aug-06-2006 19:54:

I think the Xone is pretty decently priced for what you get these days.. I expect it to last me a looong time. I have looked in to getting a seperate FX unit but still would cost me basically what I would have paid for a djm 500 + a bit.
The Xone62 is even cheaper than the speakers we decided to get today! Figured at some point it doesn't matter if you have a quality mixer & needles if the sound is shite.

^^ True, and vice versa as well.
Good sound necessitates the best of the best on every front in between record and ear.

2000 for the DJM 800 is killer but it's damn worth it in my opinion. Have you seen that thing in person?

Posted by gorex on Aug-07-2006 00:36:

good price

I recommend the ecler nuo 5 over all mentionned mixers. I played them all and the only one that really made me consider selling my nuo is the 800 like marcus said.
I can garantee you it is not worth spending more on AH, quality difference between the two is unnoticeable. (the ONLY disadvantage of the nuo is it's two permanently assigned channels...)

edit: noticed you have mentionned the 62, my bad

Posted by Wisnia on Aug-07-2006 02:22:

Oh yea, i played on the djm800 at Moog Audio and it is beautiful, but 2000$ it too much. At the moment, i wanna learn how to mix with filters, and the A&H can offer that for a little under 1000$. The feel of it is great, and you can't complain about the sound. I do spin on active studio monitors and i'm sure the 62 will sound amazing on them.

The nuo 5 seems like a great mixer too, but i have never put my fingers on it so i don't wanna risk it.

I believe the mixer is sold.

Craigslist is a really good place to sell stuff! I created a new post and within 10 minutes i got offers.

I dont get why they have none displayed at Moog.

If you want you are welcome at my home studio any time (in west island)
I have a hard schedule with the funk-show organization but there is almost always someone there.
Or : I play out next friday and the friday after (montreal and mont-tremblant) come by and I'll let you beat match live...

no I wont,

anyway man, Nuo 5 is a high class mixer, I guarantee youre not gonna be dissapointed (unless you require 4 assignable channels)
dont hesitate to pm to try it out, I ll work something out

You think your mixer sucks? I don't even have channel faders! They both stopped working over a year ago. I have only been able to mix with the crossfader for a year now. Every single promo I've put out ... It's been great practice though!
