If you are spinning trance, you will never have a need for more than 3. Two to do a mashup/long transition, and a third to cue your next track. Trance music is simply too complicated and layered to do an extraordinary amount of mashup mixing.

yes!

start with 2. once you've mastered that, try a 3rd. once you've mastered 3, try 4. once you've mastered 4, try 5. once you've mastered 5, try 6. once you've mastered that, i wont think you are crazy anymore. of course to truly master 6 CDJs, you have to HAVE 6 CDJs, not to mention a shitload of free time. and if you are mixing that many sources at once, you will probably have better luck using ableton.

stick to 2 or 3.... more than that is overkill i say

if u want to go that crazy on a song, just do a mashup on ur comp and burn it on a cd or as others said, use ableton.

6 CDJs? Have you heard of ableton?

thats exactly what i was gonna say, you're better off going ableton if you want 6 inputs, not to mention its a HELL OF A LOT CHEAPER...i imagine youd just be playing loops on the CDJ's anyways, as someone already said, trance is way too layered for more than 3.

oh and off topic, but i love how almost half this thread contains the sander K alliance.

hmm... yea ... that sounds kind of crazy... and expensive..

did it occur to anyone why the thread name says Dozen Cdjs and this guy is talking about 6. Dozen means 12, 6 is half-a-dozen.

Only Halliwell?

I use 3 CDJs with trance thank you very much and I know Eddie never uses more than 3 at once and in fact doesn't tend to do much particularly technical with trance, other than big annoying CDJ loop stutters in the breakdowns of tunes... his most technical stuff comes in when he's playing techno.

Nope, Eddie crosses all regions of hard dance not just hard house. Will stick on tougher trance tunes, tech trance, techno and hard house.

Cheers
