Sony Mylo
Not sure if this is a repost, but I ran across a demo video of the Sony Mylo. Pretty much an enhanced version of a Sidekick. I would def. get this.

wtf is the point?
WIFI ONLY
What a bunch of dumbasses in product development!
Looks like a killer app but the wifi only crap makes this product good as non existent.
Heard it's very very limited.

"Enhanced version of the Sidekick" <---HAHAHA
Is it even a phone? I'd take my SK3 over that Mylo thing anyday. My only gripe with the SK is that it doesn't have video playback...yet.

SKX FTL. its pretty much a blackberry...without push email. i personally hate the BB and the Sidekick because of their formfactors, interaction, usability, and UI. just get a palm or windows mobile 5 pda phone. they are much better, more features, can add programs and stuff as you wish and necessary, can play video, mp3, browse internet a lot faster, take advantage of newer technologies. the list goes on. my buddy had a sidekick 1 and i thought it was pretty sick. then i got to using it and thought "damn i love real pdas better". i just got the MDA and i LOVE it. especially after i updated the software. much more functionality. REAL PDA phones FTW. |

while i do agree the EDGE network is slower than EVDO i disagree with it not being fast enough for browsing. while i do agree its not as fast as EVDO when browsing as long as i am in a relatively good signal area i can get pretty good speeds.
btw slingbox on verizon will run like shit compared to sprint because verizon thinks that UNLIMITED doesnt include anything outside of EMAIL and WEB BROWSING.
I didn't say it wasn't fast enough for browsing. EDGE is great for uni-directional transfers meaning browsing the web and sending an email is all data coming down into your MDA. Once the MDA goes bi-directional, any packet transfers (ack/nak, crc, etc) will suffer in bandwidth. This is why AIM and real time chat aren't the greatest with EDGE.
Verizon's sling issue is partly due to the way Verizon is setup and sling's client server connection. All you have to do is change the port on sling's server and client settings and you should be fine. Do agree that Verizon does cap it's EVDO network which is a shame since it's such a "large provider". This is another reason why I love sprint! =)
