weeakk, i got selected for jury duty

be missing out on about 24 hours of work. my paycheck is going to be so shitty

it really is your own fault if you end up being selected

i got a letter in the mail to go to jury duty a couple years ago... but i never showed up. am i gonna get in trouble for this? if they ever ask me, i can always say i never got the letter in the mail...

i had been scheduled for jury duty once...3 days after i moved out of AZ. I had to send a bunch of crap to prove i moved out. Julia, they can fine you and still make you serve...or they can arrest you. I belevie for comtempt of court.

24 hours is nothing. I was stuck on a case for three fucking months. Major kick to the nuts when I found out it was gonna be a lawsuit

Julia: be really careful next time you get summoned.

dude just say that you think most people are guilty until proven innocent if they are caught red handed. i did and it immediately got me off the case. also tell them you think the justice system is a joke and that its good for nothing. they dont like people who hate the justice system. it means your too slanted towards saying guilty. even if you arent.

they send you those notices on rotation. you're supposed to call the courthouse the morning of your date and a recording will tell you if you're needed or not. the first 2 times i got one i threw them away. the 3rd one i actually called and they said it wasn't neccessary to come in. i've moved twice from that address since and haven't got another one since

TRUST ME, i tried to get out of it. the judge said the trial will be 3-5 working days long


and julia, i would go get that taken care of. just go to court and they'll probably ask you to come in the next day. if you dont you can get arrested for contempt of court. up to 1500 bucks i think

Just say you hate black people. I was selected for jury duty and during the interview the defense lawyer asked me if "based on looks" that I thought is client was guilty. My exact words, "hello...look at him, of course he's guilty".

they actually have not let that go as often as you think latly. i have a friend that did that and they still made him serve.

yup, someone tried to play the race card today. they TOTALLY saw through him and almost fined him for contempt of court. the lawyers and the judge grilled him with questions for abou 10 minutess. he was released but man, he got tore a new one.

yeah. they know that a lot of people pull the "im racist" card now so they immediately dscredit it if they can. thats why i say use the "i have no faith in the justice system" card because it actually works quite well. i did it and i got called again and i will do it again. although i really do have no faith in the justice system.

There's also the kind way of getting out of it...

Do you live out on your own or pay lots of bills? If so claim hardship. Say that with the loss of pay you will struggle to pay rent, bills, etc. You may have to get a note from your work saying they do not pay while out on jury duty.

It's tough with my work though. My work actually pays you up to two fulls weeks of pay if you get jury duty, lol.

If you were a woman and had a young kid there's two easy options. 1) If you are stay at home mom (could be the dad, too, I suppose ), so you have no available/affordable childcare during the day or 2) If the kid is real young, just say you are breastfeeding. Hehe.

Yes, be very very careful. You can get fined BIGTIME for it as it's contempt of court and, depending on the court, even get like 48 hours in jail for it.

am I the only one that wants jury duty? And of course Ive never been called on it.

for the LA courts, financial hardship is HARD to prove. just because your missing work doesn't mean you can miss anymore. they changed a lot of their rules

thats not true. i worked the polls and shit and they said said thats where they get your name. thats the reason why people dont know they get jury duty sometimes.
