Government's money

OK, so I am having a discussion with Tag on msn about the financial subsidies the Qu�bec government give for the roads, university etc etc. So Brendan ends up saying the Government gives more money to the French-speaking areas than the English one. For example, he said Qu�bec city has better roads and shit than in the West part of Montreal because there english-speaking people mainly live.

For my part, I think what he is saying is idiotic. My point of view is, when the government subsides money, it generally gives it to where it needs the most according to what cities/universities etc ask him. It's not just a cultural debate.

Anyways, what do you guys think?

I wonder why in the "waste" island they have two highways (20 and 40) why in the east end there's only one.

Why except for the last 7-8 years, the only two commuter train lines were going to the west island.

Or why the govt opened a new CEGEP in the west island during the last 10 years or so.

If the roads sucks in his city, he should complain to his city mayor.

I can say for sure that the roads in Ottawa are much better than Hull/Gatineau. Don't know if this counts but...

hehe otawa isn't part of the province of Qu�bec but yeah most probably there are better in Ontario

Well said! The suburbs are indeed wasteful; three times more space for housing & businesses, three times more consumption of energy... for those that can afford to waste anyway.

what allnite said, i'd rather see kirkland become a victim of isreal's bombings as opposed to lebs :P

The reason there are two highways coming from the west island is because the 40 is for the kirkland/much of pointe-claire wankers + even further off island westies.

The 20 didnt used to be a highway, it was a boulevard but was converted for the large Lachine population and the influx of traffic from Laval (Exit 32 or whatever).

Also its convenient for all the boneheads that get off the airplane to be able to zoom downtown.

roads all over montreal, and even the west island are horrible. The government is stupid and just keeps giving money to stupid businesses that dont properly do their job at fixing the road. If they stopped using tar and shit we might not have this damn problem with the roads and if they did it properly we would have great roads and streets.

The most dangerous place on the west island is the Pine Beach tunnel, I kid you not, mainly because of the diseases you can succumb to if you stay in there for more than 45 seconds. Seriously, I've pissed in there at least 20 times while being drunk, getting off the 356... So has Tag, and a lot of other people I know.

There used to be gangs in there, that would steal your kentucky fried chicken.. Now there's just people pissing in trash cans.
