Remember your Roots....
I got my start doing this Dj thingy for money about 10 years ago in a small town called Victoria TX, Did a Radio SHow down there for about 4 years from 99-2004 on 95KVIC. I left a few years back thinking that I would never return, Not that I left with bad blood, but I moved on, and plus the EDM scene there was dead from the onslaught of Hip Hop and what those hicks called Punk
anyways I was asked to spin a few down there this Friday the 18th with my buddy Dj Nrjenz from HotZ 95 Corpus Christi. He took over the show when I left and tells me the EDM scene is once again back in lil ol Victoria. It will be interesting to go back and check in and see old faces, but have any of you that spin, had the same expereince? Going back to where your roots were started? Seeing old friends/fans? I have already recieved some email from people stating that they cannot wait, but my style has totally changed since then. Should I even care??
There's an EDM scene in Victoria??
I grew up in Victoria, graduated high school in 1997 and I have continued to visit family during the holidays since then. I always remember tuning in to 95KVIC late at night and hearing this "weird" music I didn't quite understand. I really didn't start listening to EDM until 1999 or so, during college.
My dad tells me that 95KVIC is playing EDM in the late afternoon, evening, & night. He likes some of it he tells me...
Are there any clubs in Victoria that cater to the EDM crowd on particular nights? It'd be nice to hook up w/ fellow heads during the late hours of my holiday visits...my folks are in bed by 10pm...
I thought this thread said "Remember your Robots"

I am going to go blow my wad on a Deep House & Progressive House Set, see what the response will be,
I played in Victoria a couple months ago...it was pretty dead. I had a good time with the Corpus cats though.
Honestly, they're there to listen to you. What you play now doesn't matter.

| Originally posted by LazFX The place is called the Back Room. When you were back in High School I was spinning at a club called Ozone down on Main, remember that place?? I think that was the only club in Victoria's history that catered to any type of EDM. Victoria's idea of EDM is anything that Thunderpus remixes from Top 40. ha ha Should be interesting to say the least. Tell you Dad to come on out I am going to go blow my wad on a Deep House & Progressive House Set, see what the response will be, |
