Apple/MAC Garage Band

Hey all just want to ask if any of you have used the Mac/Apple to record themselves with Garage band. if you have can anyone tell me about it and the ease of use or lack of ease of use. Thinking about making the investment but you might help me make the right choice. Thanks again to all for their knowledge...

I currently use Garageband along with a novation X station.

Garageband is INCREDIBLY easy to use. Its designed for beginners (like myself) and thus it is very easy to get started. It has a powerful editor and MIDI capabilities (no MIDI out though). The software also comes with some pretty solid software instruments and a huge library of loops. HOWEVER, I am finding garageband too limiting for my uses. I like to tweak a lot, and Garageband only limits the effects per track to 2, without any real time changes. There are also not many preferences that you can change (ie exact latency figures). Furthermore, nothing can be controlled from an external MIDI controller (except for entering notes and the mod/pitch info) without downloading extra software. Even then, you can only control track pan/volume. Its just too limiting for my use, which is why I'm currently looking for some better software.

Garageband is an excellent tool when you're first starting out, but you'll probably want to upgrade to something else fairly soon...

Thank you for the info, I was looking on the MAC site and saw they have an upgrade for DJ's and people who want to do remixs. Cheers...
