Paranoia, MP3z & the 'Law'
I don't know why, but recently i've started getting paranoid about getting caught downloading mp3z etc. Like before I leave my computer to download overnight I get worried my ISP mite take note that im using the connection so muuuch (56k constant usage basically ;( ) Just stupid things like that...
I don't have that many mp3z and half of them are livesets which should soooo not be illegal (but i think they are??)
So any1 else get worried about this kinda stuff? What would happen to you if you did get caught anyway?
its not really the downloaders like most of us that they are bothered about, its the rippers, release groups, sites like shadowzone used to be etc they want blood from...
i am the same as u, i often leave my puter connected with AG running over night (in a vain attempt to down-size my que) and they dont generally ask questions... i even sometimes host the odd mp3 on my free web space (supplied by my ISP) and they never seem to be bothered...
so basically, unless ur part of a release group or owner of a web-site that offers many mp3's for download theres no cause for paranoia
Be more worried about the porn
Livesets are not illegal to have... they are public.. that means no copywrite.
i worry more about my 100 or so new movies i get every 3 months
i wouldn't worry about it. i got cable and AG and FTP server runs 24/7, hosting and DLing. fixed ip (obviuosly) so easy to track for the ISP.
way i look at it, how many ppl have net access - a hi proportion are getting mp3z or worse - u r one fish in a big sea.... not likely to track u are they (?)
your choice though. peace
i use to worry about it alot.
but the thing is, i have never heard of any person getting caught downloading mp3s or with a crapload of them. I knew a few people who are pushing 40,000+ of mp3s and if the record companies wanted to bust people besides the websites that serve mp3s, and the major rippers. Then they would prolly go after the people who have the god-aweful amount of mp3s. But until that day (prolly never) is when i would start thinking about how much of the stuff i have. And if u did get caught anyway. How bad could it hurt you. It is only copyright infringement and i think that is civil stuff i dont think u can go to jail for that (dont quote me on that its just a guess) all you get i am thinking is just a fine.

dude, after the Napster revolution, they are more concerned with massive Warez rippers than a dude with some MP3s.
