a few words about the mix... the title - "RetroFuturism" - originates from a moment during WMC this year, in which our dear friend Tony (a.k.a. glass) used the term to describe the kids with anime hair that we were making fun of while standing in a very long line outside Pawn Shop, waiting to get in. i thought it was hilarious, and it has proven to be a very diverse term, so now i'm stealing it for my mix. thanks Tony, this one is dedicated to you!

i hope you all enjoy. as always, comments and reviews are appreciated, whether good or bad.

psshhhh... DJ Rob Turner is still my idol!

btw, i forgot to tell you earlier, but that Stan Kolev track totally gives me the same feeling i get when i listen to CTTF. i haven't pinpointed exactly what song it reminds me of though.

d/led, listening now

Posted by lcid on Aug-18-2006 01:16:

i actually went back and edited it so that there's 4 less minutes of 1983 (because really that song is just too long), so if you already downloaded it, you might want to re-download it once i have the new link up.

unless you really really just love that song.

new link should be up in a lil while.

WTF I totally forgot to download this. On it now!

Posted by arecebo on Aug-29-2006 20:00:

It usually takes at least 5 or so listens til i can properly understand a set and thus review it, hence why this has taken me so long. I really dig this set, I'm not sure if I like it more than summer romance, but i whored that set to death. Every track is tasty and the flow is great except for 1983, I think i have the original version before you edited it, so maybe the updated version is better. I just think that dropping 1983 is something that needs to be very well planned and executed or it can completely kill the mood of the set, very similar to aftermath. I think you put a lot of thought into this set and choose your songs carefully and it definitely worked! Definitely a change from summer romance, not as much funk but a little more progressive. I'll listen to the newer version and tell you what i think then
