Al Azar Album Preview [3 clips]
Hi all,
here's a bit of something I've hinted to previously, but I guess it's time to finally make it "official". Me & Mart have been working on an album / EP type thing for a couple of months now and here are the first previews of it. As usual, we're going all over the place with the styles. The first 2 clips are more on the "traditional" Al Azar side but the last clip is... well... something you might not expect from us (to put it lightly
).
The file contains 3 clips. Only the first track is completely finished, the other 2 are more or less under construction and none of these really have any titles as of yet.
DOWNLOAD!
There's more on the way as well but they're more or less just raw sketches at this point so we left them out from the sampler.
Enjoy,
Nik & Mart
Will undoubtedly be an awesome album.
Track 3 sounds like it will be great, and I really enjoyed the panning on track 2, was very intriguing.
It sounds wonderful mate! Especially the first track! I would love to hear the full version some time! But the other two are really nice as well! I'm very in to this more chilled stuff so this is just great!
Keep up the good work!

i think the first track has some nice ideas but the melody is kinda boring. the bass notes are nice until about half way through the sequence when they go off on one a bit. the melody on top of it kinda sounds a bit random and scattered though, like its not really serving a purpose, i think with a few adjustments it could work. the beats in this first track are quite cool, apart from that offbeat hissy hihat thing which needs to go imo.
second track i would say the same about the melody. Also sound used for the melody sounds very dated and bland. reminds me of a snes game or something, duno if thats what you were going for. Again, the beats in this are pretty nice.
I really like the percussion and beats in the third track, along with the bass sounds and filtered bassy saw things. Pad works well to, nice atmoshere to it. I don't know if there is a melody later on in the track but based on that sample it sounds really good.

Originally posted by Mike_Foyle ok well the rhodes piano sounds wank in this track. there is no need for all the panning and some variation on the velocity wouldnt hurt. and if you are going to use an insrument like that you need to spend a bit more time sequencing it so that it doesnt sound like a plinky plonky nintendo game. there was no need to come back with a cocky reply i was trying to be constructive and helpful.
Lol at this thread already!
Will down these clips when I get back from work, am looking forward to listening them. It reads like you guys are doing some good stuff! Cheers!

Clips?! I'm not downloading that
J/k, hehe.
First track sounds a bit too happy for me, but it's solidly produced. I especially like the bassline.
I agree with Mike Foyle on the panning in the second track.
The final track seems to be the best one out of the bunch. Great sounds and effects!
It's hard to judge from the samples what the album will be like as a whole, but it's definitely going to be interesting by the looks of things.
It is going to be an album and not just a compilation of tracks, I can assure you

Originally posted by Mike_Foyle if you want it to sound old then you need to sequence it like its acutally being played, not just take a random rhodes sample patch and make a radnom melody out of it, because it sounds bloody stupid. sorry to be so rude but perhaps if you didnt act like such a sulky miserable know it all you might get a bit more resepct around here. and clearly you cant take critisism no matter how its put, so i might as well be blunt and honest. bye
LOL the outrageousness!! I'm going to take a listen so I can give my own criticism!
Edit:
My criticism here: So I get the same nintendo vibe that Mike got from that rhodes piano. He's definitely right about the sequencing, but like you said it's not even finished yet. My only suggestion on the rhodes piano is lengthen that release and have smoother transitions between those notes. It sounds like a real rhodes, but it's just at certain moments that it sounds like it is from some old NES game.

Originally posted by Mr.Mystery It's quite obvious you're acting like an ass in this thread simply because you don't like me, which is quite sad. Feedback is always welcome (why do you think I even put this thread up?) but your comments were hardly useful in any shape or form.

I had a lengthy reply for that one too but I'm not even going to bother.
Thanks for bumping the thread anyway.
It looks like this thread could do with a calming influence, so here I am! Err, hi. These samples are only really meant to serve as an indication of where we're at this moment in time, so nothing's set in stone and that second track isn't going to stay like that for long once we get round to developing it properly.
We were simply hoping to give people a taster of what we're aiming towards with this EP/album, and if you like what you hear at this stage then that's fantastic. But if not, then please bear in mind that we're still hard at work with it!
Now no flame wars please, otherwise I'll have to get my hose out.
I like Nintendo vibe

You may find it funny now... but he will do it!
Mike_Foley speaking the truth here.. That rhodes sample isnt the best one out there, atleast you could sample it from few different notes.
And I really dont get it, why do you even post these tracks here if you dont want any honest comments.

I like the beat of the first track.
The melody is sweet but you need something else above it.
I also think that you should do some snare drops instead of putting it always on the 2th & 4th.
The offbeat hihat gotta go.
The second is slower.
I like the pads.
The beat is nice.
The melody is great and I like the panning but the sound is a bit Nintendoish.
The third track sounds dark.
I like the precs and the melodies.
Nice track.

Originally posted by Mr.Mystery Oh please. These clips were meant to be a taster of things to come and clearly marked as works in progress. Getting hung up on an insignificant detail like that really isn't what we were looking for.
